I immediately went to their website to check out their watches when I first saw it. Has a more 60’s vibe to me. Unfortunately they don’t have a simpler version of that watch removing the other features like that expresso timer. Also sold out too.

Yep, most definitely an early 70s (maybe very late 60s) vibe. You can see design elements from both the Seiko Pogue and Heuer Monaco, and the other Chronos that were around at the birth of the first automatic chronos from ‘69 onwards.

Sooo glad you did another segment on micros Teddy! My favourite micro is Direnzo…I own 3 and the new Solstice looks amazing! I also own Zelos, Vario, Detroit Mint, Lorier, Straton and Helm. Really wish Helm would get their distribution act together as now you have to go on a wait list which is just huge…you’ll never get one at this rate. Cheers guys!!

The Brew is even better in the flesh. It has a fantastic feel of quality and weight. I bought it after seeing this video a few weeks ago but had to wait for the next issue batch which sold out in hours. Id keep an eye out for the upcoming Zelos watches. They will be getting a exclusive chronograph and eta 2824-2 replacement movement from Le Joux Perret. Will be some great value watches.

I have a Zelos, i don’t understand why everyone is saying its great value. There are some great features but frankly, their quality isn’t that great. Their cheaper pieces are ok for the price, but comparing the more expensive ones i would rather go for other brands. P.S Have you guys seen the Zelos wooden outer box, seriously looks like some sketchy cigar box…

@@luayinghanable Try to find another full titanium 300 meter diver with a 4hz movement , lumed ceramic bezel insert and on the fly microadjust for less than 450 bucks. You can't , same goes for their more high end stuff. Try to find a watch with 8 days power reserve , fully skeletonized movement/dial and with unique case materials for less than 2000 usd. You can't.

I think Vaer needs to be in this conversation. Field-style watches, dive watches, just added a GMT. They offer both quartz and automatic movements. Most of their watches are 40mm but they also offer some 36mm options. Stainless steel and sapphire glass, and they ship with two straps. They could also have made the list for your "best watches for students" video.

I’ve heard you talk about limiting the number of watches and brands you mention in many videos in order to keep the time shorter; DON’T! I could listen to you talk about watches for much longer than twelve minutes. Giving more information about more watches over more time is what I look for in list videos. Please don’t be afraid to delve further into subjects; long form content is much more inviting to much of us than it was even just a few years ago. Just my opinion, but I imagine that it is shared by many of your regular viewers. Love everything you do!

I prefer main stream manufacturers and never considered these brands before watching this video. This video does a great job exposing the innovation from the microbrands. The Anordain Model I with the plum fume dial is my favorite. I also loved the RGM review you did in a previous video - RGM is my favorite microbrand. Thanks Danny, happy to help! I would classify RGM as more of an independent. They have a master watchmaker at the helm and produce many of their own parts. It’s a game of semantics at times with drawing that line but that’s my take there.

Guys you have to take a look at other Farer watches as well they have some real unconventional but also eyecatching chronos and ofc others as well, eg. a Monopusher chrono or a triple pusher chronograph with incredibly unique functions that I've never seen on any other watch.

My mind was blown when I discovered SWC earlier this year. I think they had a bit of a miss with their MKI diver and none of their website photos do the watches justice, but the MKII diver has blown me away. They also do a killer field watch called Bunker out of titanium I have my eye on. And they come with Selita movements and the words Swiss-Made on the dial for around $500. I have the report that my diver passed a 300M pressure test before they shipped it too. Couldn't be more pleased with them.

Anordain is run by a guy (Lewis) who is both a pro and a deft hand a customer service. True story - when I ordered my Model 2, he wrote to me and asked what position I placed my watch on the bedside table at night so that could be factored into the regulating!

I have a Dufrane brand watch (Waterloo silver) and really like it. The specs are great, it met my wrist size requirements, (the leather band is good) and the face treatment is really nice. Sure I could nitpick the overall design a bit, but it was one of the early watches I bought as my interest was growing and before I knew what was truly important to me in a watch. That said, I love it.. Understated yet eye-catching (I've noticed someone checking it out more than once) and with the leather band can be worn with a variety of styles. Also liked purchasing and supporting an American brand/assembled watch. and For the $ I'm very happy with it.. I just noticed Teddy has done some reviews on Dufrane, so better to see what he thinks /smile..

I picked up the silver dial Monta Noble at launch. I sold a Tudor BB41 to pick it up. The Noble is gorgeous and the finishing beats the Tudor and is on par with my Seamaster.

I only recognized Zelos! Great video of what is out there. I was on a Eurocentric watch blog and discovered a diver brand called Scurfa. I bought one as a gift but the scale of the watch didn't match my sons large wrist. I swapped it for a Seiko Samurai that i just received. I grew fond of the Scurfa. It even has a helium release valve!

I like that new Brew. The colors and design are very eye catching. I have the Farer Bernina. It's a very cool and awesome performing mechanical chronograph watch. That Hegid at the end with interchangeable case is pretty cool. But, at over $3k?.. does that include a number of cases or just the starting price for one?. Anyways, pretty cool. The closest I've come to something like that has only been a watch with interchangeable bezels. Having a new case and basically new bezel as well is a much more radical change between looks/designs.

The Hegid Vision reminded me of the vintage women's Croton Nivada Grenchen Colorama system, with the interchangeable bezels and straps. There were many Swiss companies that made something similar, and had different names for theirs. Timex even had one as well, the Cavatina. I've acquired many Colorama sets for my wife. It's become a bit of an inside joke with us, as she likely can wear a different combination everyday, for many, many months.

To me, one of most attractive things about micro brands is their prices. Honestly, if I wanted to spend 1,500 or 2,000 on a watch, I would pay a bit more for a Tudor or an Oris or even a good used Omega. Love the Brew, Dan Henry or the Spinnaker or Phoibos watch both for quality and their decent prices. Just my thoughts.

Wow, Formex is a micro-brand ?! That’s quite amazing when you look at what they are offering. The specs are impressive with in-house developed technologies. They are so impressive that I would not think of Formex as a micro-brand. 😱 💯👌👍😎 Don’t know all of the brands in that list but I’ll keep an eye on. Baltic is one of my favorite for their design and quality in all aspects. Big fan. 😎 Anordain is kind of a ’niche’ as they are very specific in their craftsmanship but those dial are really amazing. Can’t argue with that. I would have added Lorier to the list. Like Baltic they go for vintage inspired design. Classic, clean and simple with quality. 😎👌👍

Yes, however it's manual rather than automatic as Teddy incorrectly stated. This does however keep it to a reasonable thickness. It comes in a few different colour options, including a very cool black dial and steel bezel.

For my Taste, I've gravitated to the Larger dial Racing Style Chronographs 40mm+ The Farer is absolutley Gorgeous and Unique. Their "Carnegie" model Chrono is my absolute Favorite...
