In a lot of interviews a whole bunch of great guitarists (Lemmy and Dan Auerback) have said upstrokes are more percussive, they are better for upbeat dance music

That upstroke style is to emphasise the bottom note being played.

Your backing track for this lesson is played straight right? Chuck Berry sound was his straight 12 bar, clashing with backing band's 12 bar shuffle ;)

Hello! In the last part (where Justin plays the strumming-like alternate picking version), he mutes the middle triplet so it would sound like chunka chunka. I can play this style with muted middle note when I'm strumming down only but find it very hard when my strumming hand goes up side. Any suggestions for muting?

It's just a typical blues shuffle, if you look at blues shuffles it should pop up somewhere!

@hrabia99332 always keep them in ur guitar case, lying around your room, in ur mouth and in your wallet. I always have picks close by or in my wallet or in my mouth. They're dirt cheap so it doesn't matter if you're always buying more
