When I look at a chord for example D/F# there’s a long thick horizontal line going across all 6 strings and by the end there’s a 2 what does that mean?

Really great info explained in such a way that's it's easy to understand and leaves the door open to naturally expand on it in the future.

I understand that it is legato so you hammer on and pull off as you're playing the scale. But what picking pattern do you use for each picked note right hand then? Before people shout "it's legato' consider that you pick the first note on each string, then hammer on, which means you'll be picking six times as you go across the strings ascending, and picking another six times as you descend. Are the picks alternate picking, even though the left hand is doing legato, or all downstrokes? Any help would be appreciated, please. Love your channel.

I played in 2 Rock bands but left the guitar playing for ~10 years. Now I want to get back to it but I lost a lot and now facing the need to re-learning everything, from chords to rhytm. That's why I need your help. You won't believe this but I'm 84, excellent health and willing to get back to the strings. I bought a Fender and amp and up and ready ! Thanks for helping man !

Too bad you cant record yourself playing guitar at the lake or in the desert, they took away the portable duel cassette recorders. A sad time for everyone. Today's digital is commercial bullshit.

Hi Justin. I think there’s a lot here to focus more on, even for younger learners. I’m a fairly advanced musician but I like to run through beginner courses every now and then just to test my core knowledge, (going through yours I’ve already picked up a different way of paying A - I use pinkie, 4th, & 3rd as default). I’d urge anyone, of any level, to go back to basics every once in a while. With regard to practice, I always struggled with long regimes. I’ve discovered that if I play a song/routine two or three times and then put my guitar down and have a breather before starting again is way more effective than just going on and on. In addition to neuroplasticity, there’s also something called the Ebbinghaus curve that I think you’d be interested in. What you’re talking about in this lesson really cannot be understated - Great lesson!
