At 51:00 You're no longer trying to win God's approval when you come to the realization that you already HAVE IT! God is not frowning at you. He's smiling. You are made by Him: "Righteous in Christ". (Phil 3:9) You have been made by God, every bit as righteous a Jesus...only it is not your own righteousness; it's His. Just accept this! The moment you do, you'll change!

That’s it! Whenever you look at the snake (what infected you and sickens you and accept it) you can now see your salvation, and your savior. If you do not accept you are sick and dying you’ll die. And now I understand why Paul says something like “work out your salvation” and why Jesus refers to him as the living water, as a continous source of life...we need salvation ALL THE TIME. It is not that if I beleive in Jesus yesterday and today I do something wrong or inmoral I will awake in hell. It is that we are too broken to, as you say, keep by ourswlves His commandments, we cannot be good, only He... and we need that source of water and life ALL THE TIME. Thank you!
The evil one whispers all the time to the ear of Christians "you lose salvation". People don't lose or gain salvation; "WE NEED SALVATION ALL THE TIME". We come to Jesus our savior and stay with Jesus our savior, period.

The Christian Life is: JESUS IN MY PLACE. So many devoted Christians are on the "try-harder" program b/c they do not know who they ARE. And you're right Tim...the results are exactly what you described at min 48-49. Then Satan lays a guilt trip on your and living as a believer isn't very happy. When you know what born again means (not just 'becoming a Christian') but as a New Creation (2 Cor 5:17), being spiritually BORN of God, then you see your life from a different platform! You begin to change and get victory where you have not before. We do not become perfect in this life time, but we can sin-LESS than we did before. We begin to take on a holy nature...a God-nature...as God's Spirit helps us get ready for our next life in Heaven.

Jesus is talking about ego death, an idea commonly discussed in the Eastern traditions. After we let go of the illusion of our ego, it frees us to be reborn. But into who or what? If we allow the Spirit of God into us, through empathy, we are reborn as a vessel of God, just as Jesus was. Jesus was the culmination of what it means for a human to empathize with God. We all have this potential, and have the benefit and confidence from him showing us the path. When each of us practice this, we better serve God and bring forth the heavenly kingdom on earth (looks a lot like Eden 😉).

Did the Hebrews know the Greek myths about snakes? - snakes and wisdom, healing..Jesus is lifted up and when we look up to the cross we are healed.
@ean66124 жыл бұрын
I wonder about this too, since in purely Christian symbolism the snake is usually seen as a symbol of evil (woe to the actual snakes of this world who don't receive the loving they deserve). In other traditions, the snake/serpent is viewed simultaneously as danger/evil AND wisdom/healing. I'm hypothesizing, but maybe its esoteric meaning in Christianity goes like this: The snake is the symbolic representation of the 'Opposer'. But it is wise if we decide to recognize that its influence exists within us, because in the recognition that we are monsters we gain self-wisdom. In other words, we lose our childish naivety and/or egotistical self-righteousness. I believe this is why Carl Jung and others who have studied the history of human symbology landed on this fact, and recommended "Shadow work" in order to confront the demons within us. Accept that they're there, and learn to live above them. Further, we will eventually realize we cannot live above them by effort and discipline alone. We understand the source of the poison in our hearts is beyond our control and therefore requires a physician. That is where the acceptance of Christ comes in. We learn to live in accordance with God's word. Thus it's written 'The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:10).' I'm still working this out, hopefully I communicated the idea clearly enough tl;dr: The serpent simultaneously represents both danger AND wisdom, because recognizing the snake-within leads to self-wisdom, follow that path until eventually you find your way to God.

"Born Again" is also another way of referencing 'Baptism'
@U014B5 жыл бұрын
Correct. When Peter preached at the first Pentecost, he plainly told those listening, "Repent *_and_* be baptized..." When Paul wrote to the Romans saying they will be saved if they confess allegiance to Jesus and believe, he was speaking to people who had *_already_* been baptized. In fact, Paul himself was baptized *_after_* being confronted by Jesus. And let's not forget his description of baptism as an analog of Jesus' burial and resurrection. Whoever wrote Hebrews did well in tying in the Flood narrative to the institution. (To those who want to argue, "Baptism is a work, it's not faith!", consider this: is the person undergoing baptism themself performing it? No, instead baptism is done _to_ them by someone else. The fact that it's always referred to in the passive voice-"be baptized"-instead of the active-"baptize"-reflects this. Jesus' brother James would tell you, "Show me your faith _without_ deeds, and I'll show you my faith _by_ my deeds. Faith without deeds is *_dead._* ") But I'm preaching to the choir...

I do understand your point, and do not disagree with what "born again" is,: However-, I strongly disagree with the dismissive way you negate and religious conversion of another person. You can't judge the sincerity of someone's experience. The girl the others were referring to, may very well have thought she was Gouda & believed in God. The term to repent, as you have stated is to turn around- which is what she seems to have done according to her 'friends' which will always be shunned by people who don't follow or don't try to live according to biblical guides. The others, such as rockers can be seen in their fruits. I understand the discrepancy of the culture view ...but those who seek understanding. Your comparison should have highlighted the misunderstandings of society in general, not those turning to Jesus.

To be Born of the spirit is not a choice it’s a gift from God. You have no part in it. It’s actually scary and confusing at the same. This is a call from God himself. The Holy Spirit begins to teach you about Jesus, and Jesus begins to teach about the Father. When you realize you have a Father in Heaven. The fear, but the respect you humble yourself quickly. You want to please you please your Creator Jesus Christ our Lord and you summit yourself to the Lord willing. You understand magnitude of what you have been giving The reconciliation back with your Father and your Lord with your true family you will be with. Then want everyone to experience the joy of knowing The father but the world looks at you differently at that point. We can't have faith without knowing the Word of God. I am 65 and have gone to "church" my entire life. Not until 11-1/2 years ago did I start attending a church that encouraged that people read the Word of God and live by that. Also, by reading the Word, we know if a pastor is preaching truth. After 13 times reading through the entire Bible and attending many Bible studies, I understand so much now. There is nothing simple in Christ's teachings. Also using the Hebrew and Greek Lexicons is necessary to understand a lot. I will continue to read the Word as God shows me new things each time I read His Word. It says we MUST be baptized in water and in Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God. Jesus himself was baptized by John the Baptist for the forgiveness of sins. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is something we do separately and need to desire it. After studying John 3:16, it truly means "that whoever has faith in Him" not just believing is enough. I know people who are putting worldly things before God but claim to "believe". As James puts it "Faith without works is dead:. We are not saved by our works; but, when we are truly saved, we will have a great desire to do good works. God bless Brother!!
