I really enjoy your videos. I am trying to get my second potatoes invthe dirt. And just got cucumbers, okra, planted zucchini & yellow quash, cherokee wax beens, got a little from them. My garden is just now starting to grow. I did get a fee potatoes a few weeks back, and 2 zucchini. It sucks being gimpy, I was in auto accident few yrs back and my ankle and knew was reconstructed, so its hard for me to do the work that really NEEDs to get done, I do not have any way to haul the dirt and wood chips other than in buckets and carry them. Today my injured knew shifted and I rolled my good ankle felled down, trying to get wood chips to the potatoe bed. I need at least 10 mire buckets of wood chips and just as many of manure... One step at a TIME... Slow and steady, is something have have been trying to learn, since tue accident.

Great timely info ! One of the most difficult things for gardening can be plant timing. The process of counting forward in spring and backwards late summer can be challenging. Trying to keep up clearing out summer crops beds/containers to make room for additional summer and fall plantings can at times be a full alarm fire drill 🤪 I use a written planting schedule and it’s the only way I can possibly keep up with it. I use to only garden in the summer and when it gets hot everything dies and I’m finished. Now I garden 365 days a year and actually enjoy fall and winter gardening the most. Thanks for the informative videos and hopefully it will encourage folks to plant successive plantings and continue on after their first frost !

You're so right! Its tricky, but also THE most important factor sometimes when the window is closing. Great points and the fringe season is my favorite as well. Not only the crops, but it just feels easier even....like nature is working WITH me, rather than against. Happy weekend!

Thanks for this very informative video. A light bulb went off in my head when you said plants don't know what time it is and how they react to light, water and nutrients. I was so disappointed thinking I missed the season to plant some things but you gave me hope and i'm headed to the store to get me some heirloom seeds shortly!!

Another thing to keep in mind...if relying on seed packet info for planning lead times for fall remember we are in a waning sunlight hours setting vs an increasing sunlight situation in early spring so probably need to add a week or two to the days to maturity listed on seed packets... We generally replace our onions we harvest end of July with beet seedlings for a second crop out of that same bed...

king of the north bell pepper is a good mid season to grow for the south and the midwest, but is a good crop to grow for the north, northeast and northwest

Hi! Many thanks for the good info! 'Second cropping' is a thing here (Scotland) but not because we got a first crop - usually because we're trying to get at least a few veggies out of the hard work! Lol! We have pheasants that keep coming into the veggie patch & eating the plantlets, so I have to use my 'spares' (that I sow for this reason!) to try again! I put cloches over them to stop them getting in, but have to take them off to let the plants grow - then the pheasants come waddling in & eat the leaves! Grrrr!! But my fault I guess... I'm a bird feeder because I love seeing all the wildlife around about & am trying to encourage them to help me with the 2nd problem - SLUGS/SNAILS! So second harvests are always on my July 'To Do' list! ;) A question, if you could tell me thanks? Cilantro - is that what UK would call coriander? Many thanks! I've deffo subscribed. :)

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Ahhh right! Thank you for that! I grew up in Canada so I know zucchini=courgette, eggplant=aubergine but was stuck on Cilantro. I read somewhere it might be Coriander but wasn't at all sure. Thank you for that! Wildlife & birds are too important to hurt (even if it means I have to feed them) and I'd prefer that the birds ate the slugs & snails rather than use chemicals, so trying to encourage them. But the pheasants are beautiful & they leave me a tail feather or two so... they're obviously grateful for the 'snacks'. LOL! Thankfully the high fencing keeps the deer out! Otherwise I'd just not bother! LOL ;) Thanks so much for the videos. I'm still much of a newbie at gardening so I'm finding your vids very helpful! Thank you again.

Great question. I've given up on transplanting corn. Direct seeding is all I do now. Pick the varieties with under 60-day maturity if you're aiming to plant at this time of year. Its getting close to being too late for corn where we live...
