Teach yourself to sew your own clothes! With these patterns (in my opinion!) it is a straightforward process. Any other big four or indie patterns you might recommend to beginner sewists?! And if you have worked with these patterns, did you enjoy them? I'd love to hear. Happy sewing and creating to you!

Rachel Ann, I LOVE this video! I have almost all of the same patterns too. I agree with you completely on them. Loungewear is my vibe! I made each piece in S9857. Love it! I always include the facings. It gives the garment more structure and a clean finish. I still need to make the peasant top. I'll put that on my list for the spring. I also made S9605 View D. Feeding the 5 rows of elastic into the casings was a pain. I do want to make View A though. Yours is beautiful!! I really think that Vogue satin dress would be perfect for Easter. It's stunning! I love all your makes. GREAT VIDEO!! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Grace!! Thank you so much! And I will be keeping the facing piece in mind for some of the future garments I sew! Appreciate you weighing in on that. I agree that loungewear is the best! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! And happy happy sewing! Will look forward to seeing new pieces you create! 🧵🪡😊

Hello! Loved this video, and I’ve been sewing for close to 60 years. You are so stylish, cute and pretty. Keep sewing and as you said,,, just go for it. The way I had to learn many different sewing skills was ,,, just go for it!!! And hope it works out!!! lol. I had hardly any kind of sewing help although my h s home c teacher was great or I thought so and my mom got my first skirt pattern with a waistband and zipper and thin and quite cheap fabric and turned me loose and I was hooked! I was about 13 yrs old, also. We had to learn by the pattern sheets back then,,, if you can imagine and we certainly had no you tube videos which are so helpful, as even today I sometimes refer to them myself. Take care and happy sewing. Nancy from IN.

I also love the top you are wearing with simplicity 9956 pants, it was the perfect color and was so cute on you. Please list the pattern you used for the top. Thanks I enjoy your KZbin videos 😊

Thank you so much! It was actually the top portion of a vintage very easy Vogue 9242 pattern! I just love a racer back style and instead of making the dress, just left it as a top! You may be able to scoop the pattern up on Etsy or eBay, but it is a great one! Happy sewing!🪡🧵

I am absolutely loving your videos. I am trying to get up my gumption to just go for it and sew my first garment. Thank you for these recommendations! Your blouse is so gorgeous, and I really like the necklace with it. It matches your top perfectly, is it a painted flower on a black background? As creatively talented as you are, I was just wondering if perhaps you created it yourself.

Oh, I’m so glad to hear that! Happy you’re enjoying. Definitely go for it!! You got this 🥳 thank you for your kind words, the necklace is cloisonné-which is an antique enamel technique (I believe the jewelry is first formed with wires and then enamel is poured in between the wires). I collect cloisonné pieces and you can often find them at thrift stores and I’ve seen quite a few on Etsy! Happy creating and happy sewing! 😊🧵🪡

@@dineincreativity You are the best! Thank you so much for the kind encouragement, it is greatly appreciated. Cloisonné is so beautiful! What an interesting process it is to make it. I love all things antique and vintage -- I delight in a good treasure hunt! Etsy is definitely a great place to look for unique items. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful skills with the class! 😊 P.S. I just saw that Simplicity is having a great $4.99 pattern sale right now for Butterick, McCalls and Simplicity, if you are interested. Thanks!

Thanks for these! So appreciate it. 😊 Thinking about McCalls 8392 top & Simplicity 9477 for a more skirt type bottom for pajamas/loungewear. Also…simplicity 9538 is so SOOO close to a favorite shirt that I purchased in 2 different colors years ago…and they are definitely really worn out now. So thrilled to be able to replace them now myself sewing them. 🦋

Your plan sounds so cute! So much fun to make cute PJs/loungewear! And I’m so happy for you! It’s amazing how we’re able to sew up some of our favorite pieces that were bought. I love that we are able to re-create pieces with all of these different patterns! Happy happy sewing and creating!🧵🪡😊

I love the top you’re wearing with simplicity s9956…..May I ask what pattern that was, please? Ps I’m glad you showed examples as I know from your other videos the clothes you make ALWAYS look better than on the front of the pattern! It’s made me buy patterns I normally wouldn’t buy!

Hi! And thank you! So, it was actually the top portion of a vintage very easy vogue 9242 pattern I found at a thrift store. Originally meant to be a full dress-I just used the racer back top portion of the dress as a blouse only. You may be able to find the pattern on eBay or Etsy, but it is so cute and very easy to work with! It is interesting how clothing can look different on versus what’s on the pattern picture! 😊 Happy happy sewing!🪡🧵

I made mccalls 6802. It had a wonky neckline. The woman at the fabric store gave me a heads up about it and she was right. However, I made it work and cut off the pieces that didn’t fit well. I think it is a pattern error.
@dineincreativity21 күн бұрын
Oh, thanks for sharing your experience! Good for you for making it work! It might have been the chunkier knit I was working with that camouflaged any pattern issues but I loved this one : ) I'll be interested to see if I have that experience working with a different fabric. Happy happy sewing!
