I store all my patterns on a shelf in the closet in their categories but I photocopy the front of the pattern. I then store that photocopy in one big binder so that when I want to make something I can flip through the pictures in the binder and make my choice. Otherwise I forget what patterns I’ve got and I’ve got some great patterns that I bought years ago. In the U.K. our patterns aren’t very often on sale like the USA so they cost a lot of money and we need to make the most of them. By the way I have separators in the binder separating the pictures such as dresses, tops, pants etc. I enjoy flipping through my main binder to find my next inspiration then find the pattern in my closet. I hope that rambling makes sense.

I love your method of pattern organization! Sounds like you have really streamlined the process of being able to see all the patterns that you have. Definitely going to take this in a consideration as my pattern collection continues to grow. Thank you for sharing and happy, happy sewing and creating! 😊

I’m going to do this! I don’t have a specific sewing area, so having a handy way to see my patterns when they are stored away will be awesome!

Very pretty sewing room. I would feel inspired with those pretty colors. For your patterns I have seen people use the binders to just store the envelope and then use a filing cabinet for the pieces and directions. File the patterns numerically. Also, have you thought of getting a folding craft table. I bought mine at Michaels. The long ends fold down to make it a very narrow table and underneath are two shelves. I love it for my small space. Just some suggestions you might consider. Happy Sewing!

Thank you so much for sharing and being here! These are all really great ideas! I love the idea of having a filing system in place for the patterns along with storing the envelope in the binder. The folding craft table sounds awesome-what a great fix for a smaller sewing space! I’m definitely going to look into that. Appreciate these suggestions and happy happy sewing to you!🌷🧵

You're sewing space is darling! It's so cheery and fun, the artwork is amazing! I organize my patterns similar to you in binders, however I only store the pattern envelope in a page protector and each binder hold various categories between dividers (dresses, tops, pants, etc). For the pattern tissue and instructions, I put them in a large manilla envelope and store in numerical order by pattern company in the bottom row of my Ikea Kallax 4x4 in Drona fabric boxes. It works well for me because I can pull out my binders (I have 2 binders - I think they are 4" ones) and "shop" that way for what I want to sew. I love your huge mirror, that is great! I have a small one hanging on my door and it's totally distorted and so I call it my "fat mirror" because everything looks totally different in it than in any other mirror in my home. ;-) Happy sewing!

Thank you for such a kind and thoughtful comment! I have now learned that several people seem to store their patterns in that same way and it makes a lot of sense. I am definitely going to be considering that in the very near future! Those mirrors, I’ll tell you what. This one does come in handy, but I too have had distorted mirrors hanging up before- mine was right by the front door right before you walk out so imagine that last look before you face the world ha ha ha. Happy happy sewing and creating to you!🧵🪡😃

Welcome to my sewing room! I'd love to hear how you have your space set up, organize patterns and fabric, and all that good stuff! *And a quick correction--I thought it was $224🤪, but my sewing Brother XM2701 machine was actually $137! Still available in many places for around that price! Happy sewing!

Thanks for sharing your space. I also use a binder system as well but I store the contents of each pattern separately in manilla envelopes in fabric cubes it allows me to store several pattern envelopes in each binder I shared a pattern organization video on my channel I've accumulated over 200 patterns over the 12 years I've been sewing

I’m in the midst of flipping and creating my sewing room from a guest room to a sewing room. It’s a process. Thanks for the great tips. Loved the ways to store patterns. Thank you. PS - If you don’t know - The Fairy Ring print is by British illustrator Edward Robert Hughes I think. At first I thought Arthur Rackham…but, I think it’s Hughes. Adorable. I love vintage illustrations. Love your artwork too. Stay after your painting. 😊 I’m in the same boat…enjoying sewing & embroidery the most right now too. 👩🎨 👩🎨

Sounds like such a fun project and it definitely is a process! Thank you so much for sharing the name of that piece. I had not known that before posting it on this channel! PS I’m not KZbin savvy enough to know if this is okay or not - but, I’m doing a deep dive on making a sewing space. Not sure if it’s okay to post another KZbin person here or not. 🙈 I didn’t see a place to PM you. Anyway - After watching your video, I also watched Evelyn Wood’s on “8 sewing spaces that will make your life easier” which was also helpful. Thought I’d pass along that to you if you’re not already following her, and you said you were also ongoing working on your space. I liked her thoughts on having designated areas like “haberdashery” & “fabric store”. You ladies are all helping me try to make sense of all the marvelous bits that make up a good space. Thank you again. 🧵 🪡

I LOVE that last painting you did of the flowers in the white vase!!!! How do you texture the paint like that, do you add something to the paint or just glob it on? Acrylic, right? I want to get into painting again!
@dineincreativity2 ай бұрын
Thank you! And you totally should get back into painting! I layer a pretty thick coat of gesso on the canvas before I even start painting to get an uneven/slightly textured base and then use a mix of oil and acrylic paint. I also mix the acrylic paint with painting modeling paste and liquitex acrylic medium, to really thicken everything! Happy creating! 🎨🧵🪡
