By the way everyone, stress is a huge factor of fat. Stop weighing yourselves every day. Take a step back and do that every week. The scale isn’t always accurate, water weight plays a role. You are all doing amazing, you are trying your best. Keep pushing !!!!!
@dalysea26
@dalysea26 4 ай бұрын
Interesting, I actually record the weight every morning to get a more accurate trend line. I don't stress about day to day fluctuations, but the trend of the average is useful to see if you're trending up or down and adjust accordingly. If you only measure weekly, you might just happen to pick a day you had more water weight. Idk, I think some people are more data-driven and feel better having the feedback.

It's not always right, but it gives you an idea of how much you're gaining from day to day. It also helps after a bad day of eating, to get you on track right away back to not eating junk.

You can absolutely weigh yourself every day. You might have to look at the numbers three days or seven days apart to see any fat loss progress, but women should be better able to see when water weight comes on during their cycle if they have a weight from every day rather than just one in seven.

I have been following Thomas for years now. I have learned a lot and adapted his recommendation to what worked and didn’t for me throughout the years. IMHO - THIS IS HANDS DOWN HIS BEST VIDEO. If you are only going to watch one, make it this one.

Thrive needs to drop the subscription model. I wouldn't mind ordering from them occasionally, but probably not every month. Their prices aren't always the best and I buy a lot locally. Their subscription is a turn off for anyone that would buy from them a few times a year.

Can’t you cancel at anytime? Like do a one or two month and then cancel them again? Or are there extra fees for doing that?

I agree! I was finally influenced by Thomas's video to finally give Thrive a shot and with 30% off my entire first order? Seemed like a no brainer to stock up and try new things. First, I found out I have to pay a membership. I opted for the 1-year for the savings and the ability to cancel at any time. Then I started selecting my items and I was rather excited about the adventure. Unfortunately, once I got about $100 of things in my cart, I noticed a message: First order discount 30% off Maximum discount is $20.00 SERIOUSLY? I would not have gone to the trouble of that subscription for a $20 savings. I don't know if Thomas knows this or not, but it very much seemed like a bait and switch marketing technique, and I cancelled my subscription before it ever really got started.

For the record that’s just a cool shirt regardless of the food. Some people may not like to wear brands they don’t consume or support, but me personally I love vintage logos and neon colors, whether it be fast food, beer, or cigarettes, even if I don’t actually partake in any of it. I guess I’m just a sucker for nostalgia, but to each their own.

The whole eat more workout more and burn more makes sense. If you’re barely eating 1000 cal a day your metabolism is going to be super low and when you sleep at night you’re probably barely going to be burning anything. But if you’re burning 3 to 4000 cal a daywhen you sleep at night you’re going to be burning a lot more weight. Which also ties into getting proper rest and trying to sleep for a good amount of hours.

Great video! I've been following Thomas for years and recently went from 210 to 175 (52 year old man) with zero exercise and only eating much better. Here are a few key tips, some of which align with this video. 1. Plan and buy ahead. stock up on vegetables, fruits and protein at Costco and cook over the weekend to have plenty of healthy meals/snacks ready to eat during the week 2. Snack. before meals. This is my own little hack - I eat a piece of protein and/or fat about 30 minutes before a meal and by the time the meal rolls around I really don't have much appetite and I'll often just skip the meal entirely and I'm fine 3. Drink lots of water. I wake up and drink a large glass of water with a pinch of himalayan pink salt or celtic sea salt. Can't even taste that little bit of salt but according to Ben Greenfield and other biohackers, it helps drive water into the cells where it's needed. 4. Minimize supplements. I used to take dozens of supplements. Now I just take 200mg caffeine capsules with 400 mg L-theanine when I'm tired (about 10 cents instead of a $5 starbucks coffee) and I take fish oil, vitamin c powder, vitamin D+K2 (to keep calcium in the bones), Zinc+copper and Magnesium + Potassium. There are so many cases where taking a mineral in isolation can deplete other minerals like too much zinc depletes copper, too much magnesium depletes calcium. I'm actually moving to a multivitam now to further simplify things 5. Take miralax and fiber supplements. The high protein and high fat foods really constipate me. Based on a meeting with my GI doc, I use miralax to stay regular and fiber to build bulk. When I'm really constipated, I take a teaspoon of castor oil before bed as that stimulates the bowels to contract and the next day is a smooth move. 6. Eat vegetables and fruits and whole foods. Sounds like a no-brainer, but my mind tends to focus on fats and protein with the keto diet and I've developed a habit of eating an apple after most meals for a bit of sweetness (lower glycemic impact as it comes after the protein and fat in the meal). I'm also eating half or more (by size/weight) of whole foods with much less cooked foods other than the protein. I'd say my diet is basically chicken/beef/fish plus a lot of vegetables and fruits (love blueberries, blackberries, strawberries). 7 Do strength training! I lost 35 pounds without exercise and I'm super happy and energetic, but I do feel like I'm wearing a loose skin suit to some extent. I clearly lost some muscle in the process so I'm adding it back with strength training now. I hate gyms, so I'm just doing pushups, planks, leg raises and sit-ups. When the weather is better I'll get out on my bike to work the quads as they are huge metabolic muscles. 8. Be patient and focus on 10 pounds at a time. I didn't set a goal to go from 210 to 175, I set a goal to go from 210 to 200 and eat all healthy/keto meals within 2 weeks (which I did). I then gave myself 4 weeks to get to 190 (which I accomplished in about 3 weeks) and then another 4 weeks to get to 180. I actually stopped weighing myself every day as I realized my weight fluctuates by 3 to 4 pounds from day to day and I just didn't care about the end game as much as I cared about maintaining healthy eating habits. I now crave super healthy food and when I see junk food my response ranges from mildly interested to zero interest (no real cravings for junk food if it's out of sight) 9. Find or create support. My wife is an awesome cook but not supportive or a good partner in weight loss. I can't change that, so I just watch 1-2 hours of health videos per day every single day without fail to keep my mind entrained / focused on a healthy path. 10. Realize after losing 10 pounds that further weight loss is just maintaining the same eating habits. Sure it will get harder the more weight you lose, but that just means the pounds will drop off slower, but they will drop off. I'm no longer focused on the scale, but rather on looking good and feeling good. I hope this helps someone. I've found Thomas' videos super helpful and motivating and I've found viewer's comments very helpful as well, particularly the little hacks that people have found.

Topic is spot on . Been thinking about this lately: I know what works for me! I know what my body needs to feel good, lose weight, be healthy and have most ailments go away. I agree and if you have fat to burn I would add Fasting. I started 24-36 hour fasting: I’ve been doing (sleep-fast-sleep-eat… repeat). That’s 36 hours! That’s my goal, but I know that if I want, I can change it up and do 16-20hr fasts… just think about how good you’ll look and how much healthier you’ll be. One suggestion, sea salt can help, and activated charcoal to remove toxins you release in fat burning.

What I have found to be best is to eat nutrient dense foods as much as possible (of course I enjoy a sweet here and there). What happens is that since you are nourished well, which is the reason we eat, you will be alot less hungry. I think of very obese people who are always hungry...I think that they are malnourished. Also, give it some time! Eating "close to the earth " will change you in about 4-6 weeks. And everything about you will function better! Your brain, your hormones, immune system, mood, you name it! Living healthily also is about how you feel over how you look. We all deserve a good life ❤ much love my friends!

When I go on a skying trip with family and friends to the Austrian Alps I always treat myself to Käsespätzler. It's a calorc bomb with of fat and carbs (40-60gramms) and like 20 grams of proteins. Because I eat it for lunch and I snowboard for the whole day - I don't even get kicked out of ketosis. Also so damn gooood. Just to the point, that carbs are not as evil as we sometimes make them to be and if you are active - no problem at all. Also, according to my Garmin watch I burn above 3000 kalories on those days, and I'm a 158 cm tall (5'2 in ft I think or even less) 58 kg weight 43 year old woman. Being active and knowing how active you are is the key. Also Thomas, thanks for all the information. You've really helped me with understanding my muscle gain, fat loss and generally health. And the importance of recovery!

One thing that has helped me is to eat slower. Especially when eating when I am having a cheat meal or dessert. The whole point of eating cheesecake is the taste, so why swallow it as soon as you put it in your mouth. Let your taste buds enjoy it for 15 seconds before swallowing. It helps me to be satisfied with one small piece instead of two big pieces.

A big male can store like a kilogram of glucose. You shouldnt have like more than 7 grams of glucose in your blood. It can be hard to replenish glucose stores. You also need a reasonable supply of essential fatty acids. Especially if you want to be active enough to get sufficient dopamine. I dont think there is a problem with getting moderate carbs and fats in each meal, probably helps with hormones too.

Also if you are a binge eater and/or bulimic it is not usually possible to burn all the extra calories. It is much more practical in this case to start from intermittent fasting.

When I don’t eat enough carbs I get hypoglycaemic. Maybe you could do a video about that sometime?

8:23 this morning after my workout 5am I had 5 over easy eggs and 200grams of homemade beef jerky from 90/10 ground beef. It kept me satisfied all morning. Had my next meal at 2pm.

High protein, moderate carb and lowish fat has never let me down. I buy whole foods and make my own meals. One small bottle of olive oil and 4 sticks of butter lasts me at least a year. I'm a nurse so I burn off my carbs.
