Now here is a class that has a sensible approach to downwind sailing!

I've never seen such an over-canvassed boat in my life. Luv it.

Crazy class of dinghy. SO overpowered it's silly. Much respect!

These little skiffs are amazing, they look like theyd never pitch pole the way the bow is pointing to the heavens all the time. Must be the most fun you can have with your pants on

@unitednudistmop - cost ranges from $2000 - $30,000 NZD, depends how competitive you want to go. and how many rigs you want to have. they usually have four different size rigs depending on conditions. Strong fleet in NZ.

On day one of these 12' skiffs is gonna take off and land and just land at the windward mark. They are so close to flying it's scary.

I am lucky enough to sail one of these, and not only are the boats awesome but everyone that sails them (in Australia at least) is friendly, and that helps the class out a lot, 10x better than some of the pretentious Bethwaite fleets i used to deal with.

12 foot skiffs, mainly sailed in NZ and Australia, Lots of older boats currently, they all use the Woof hull, not sure where the blueprints are but there are moulds floating around

Mate we've been sailing these brutes since the days they were first designed and raced in the 1800s in Sydney Harbour Australia. These are 12 footers and they are brutes but go checkout the 18 footers for some mind blowing speed and cutting edge design

yes - it's called a crew pulling it down like crazy and stuffing it into a bin
@brynheveldt13 жыл бұрын
@xROLLINDICEx - no not foiling, no need really, the sails are so big, the whole thing only weighs around 45Kg it naturally wants to fly! they are like mini 18's. uber powerfull.
@DJFarallon Жыл бұрын
It looks like they should have unmanageable lee helm with all that sail forward and so little of the boat in the water. But fun and exciting!

Waterline length seems to not matter here

i think it would be nice to sail boats like that, but it looks kind 'a weird at the videos at youtube :/

I would how these would fly with foils?

Why has one got a trapeze and the other hasn't?
@jamesayre3087 жыл бұрын
probs a diff class . 12ft skiffs have 2 trapezes 1 for crew an one for helm. it would practacly be impossible to hike one of them
@mattzm111 жыл бұрын
ive sailed one in heavy wind, its more fun then having your pants off
@philippsturzenhofecker72126 жыл бұрын
mattzm1 how about sailing it WITH your pants down...double trouble..double fun!😉
