Your story about feeling guilty that your sister helped take care of your dog reminded me of something my husband said to me years ago. I was a volunteer coordinator for a school and made it my job to help others every day. One day I forgot to bring my lunch. One of the volunteers gave me half of her sandwich. I knew this woman had very little income. I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to reimburse this friendly volunteer for the sandwich. My husband ask me if I enjoyed helping others. I said Of Course! Then he said, Don't take away the pleasure others receive from helping you. I have a very wise husband.🧡

"Toxic positivity." I have never heard that, but it's so true. Sometimes I feel like my mood is not good enough to be around other people, when the truth is that we all have bad moments, days, or seasons, although the entertainment programming has indeed programmed people into believing that happy should be most of the time.

The satisfaction of completing something you want to procrastinate is a good reframing too. The less you want to do it the more satisfying it will be to be done. Letting go of perfectionism is a game changer. The laundry still gets done but I’m not a slave to it. And no one has noticed.

Great advice and so easy to implement on the whole. I totally agree task combining and bundling less enjoyable tasks with ones you enjoy more are genuine time saver hacks. I am sometimes guilty of being far too perfectionist which I agree is a waste of time, there is no such thing as true perfection it is merely an unreachable myth. I would not advise allowing corporations/businesses the ability to withdraw money from your checking account automatically. It takes just a few minutes to address an envelope, write a check and drop it in the mail. And you get to keep total control over your checking account. These businesses store your financial information and are constantly being hacked, compromising consumer's financial information. It's a huge hassle when there is a dispute with a company that has the ability to take money from your account; even if they agree to reimburse you, they take their sweet time about it.
