At minute forty-five you ask, "What are those metal decorations for?" Those help keep the brick face attached to the building instead of falling away from the building. Each of those "S" shapes is attached to a rod that runs under the sub-floor across to a similar "S" shape on the other side of the building. Imagine a long turnbuckle. Oftentimes the "S" is a diamond, square, circle, star, or other geometric shape. They help anchor the brickwork to the building. Love your stories. I was an EA and loved surveying so much I retired after fifty years of calling myself a surveyor.

Wow! Thank you for your service and congrats on the retirement. The info about the brick fasteners make sense now that you mention it. Thank you for the input. Have a great day!

I like the videos. I'm a former USAF Red Horse and Rapid Deployment Force asset. Maybe we'll cross paths "down the road sometime." We travel in a self built cargo trailer. The "Red Horse" decal will be on the exterior.

You mentioned the canvas bag and it reminded me of my father taking a canvas bag that had a small leak. He tied the bag to the front grill of our 1954 Ford sedan to help keep the radiator cool. We chugged along the desert highway on our way to Colorado one summer passing other cars who broke down along the way. Thank you for the video. I had fun going along with the tour of the court house :D

I still have a new canvas bag from my first daytime trip through the desert. I bought it thinking I should have one just in case...I was getting things ready to go and realized I was driving a 1974 VW412 station wagon with no radiator.

I still hand draw my concept cartoons and construction drawings to print. I find it very satisfying. The red in the bricks is from Iron Oxide. Fired bricks can last for centuries. Man has been firing bricks since an estimated 6,000-BC. The Roman Legions even traveled with portable kilns to produce fired brick for their constructs. Quite a tour of Florence...👍👍

The trees on the side of the church were Olive, possibly grafted with a non-flowering , non-fruiting variety - which would explain the large irregular growth on mud trunk.

The Stations of the Cross depict 14 events in the Passion of Jesus Christ, beginning with Jesus being condemned to death and ending with His body being laid in a tomb. The pious practice of praying the Stations of the Cross originated in medieval Europe when pilgrims were unable to visit the Holy Land, so instead “visited” these Holy places through prayer.

My son in law was a CO at a couple of the prisons there. I've visited several times. I remember a good Mexican restaurant down town. Not a bad place to live... too hot for an Oregonian tho. Cheers.
