I’ve done 12’s for the past 6 years. Just switched over to 8s with no weekends/holidays and I love it. My quality of life is much higher 😍

8-hour evenings are my jam! 2pm-10pm five days a week. I don’t mind working five days a week. I’m switching from 12-hour nights to 8-hour evenings and I am soooo excited to have my morning back for errands, things around home, etc. Also I can’t wait to have a schedule I can keep all the time. I don’t WANT to be on a night schedule all the time. However, on evenings, I can be in bed at midnight and up again between 7 and 9 the next morning. As a night owl, working until 10:00 doesn’t phase me one bit.

Don't mind the 12 hr shifts, it's the 8hr shift needed to round out 80hrs a pay period that is the bummer for nurses in the federal system. No full time with 3-12s a week.

Very nice decision. You are putting God first in your decision and the. Merriage and children Very nice. Work is not first. May God bless you and all family you have and will have

Personally I don't mind 12 hour shifts but I'm trying to see what I want to do next instead of ER

I've done 8 hour shifts for the last 9 years. I can honestly say that I feel tired doing 8 hours too. Two days on the weekend is not enough time to recoup before having to do it all over again. Saturday is spent recovering and Sunday is spent dreading Monday. Besides, 8 hours can turn into 9-10 hours if a job requires meetings. Great video nonetheless!

What do you do after you get off work on the days you’re working? I use to go to the gym everyday after work when working 8 hour shifts and have the most energy while being in that job. I ate healthy, slept at least 8 hr a day and exercised every day while working in a fam med clinic where I would also get a 1 hr lunch. Best job of my life

I would never do 8hrs again. 12 hours have so many benefits.

Shall be praying for you, that you find the right job in GA. :-) I prefer ER too, but have you considered something like an Urgent Care, or something that is more like a doctors office (shorter/more regular office hours), but also a little more emergent?
@Katherine_Ann4 жыл бұрын
Hey Heidi! I have been looking into cardiac cath labs and endovascular labs because of the no weekend no holiday and set schedule. Urgent care would be interesting, I never actually really even thought of myself not working outside if a hospital setting, but I'll have to look into that!

Burn out is also common in a 12 hour shift. Your 4 days off are either spent in shopping, vacation, or getting a second job that makes quality of life flies so fast than you realize.

Hi Katherine, thanks for the video, if someone chose 12hrs shift is it permanent or can one change it in the week

Thanks for watching! It depends where you work, some facilities may not offer 8 or 12 hour shifts.

That’s the problem I am running to. I can’t find 8-10hr shifts, I have 2 jobs and each give me 9hr shift.
