It is most definitely Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu. I studied it for many years and this Karateka's technique is superb.

FYI, This is absolutely Shorin Ryu, practiced by Sensei Jim Sindt (who should have been credited by the poster of these videos BTW). I'm a black belt and have had the opportunity of training in Okinawan dojos over the years so I know the real ting when I see it. Even though Sindt is European, I've never seen Shorin Ryu katas performed more powerfully or fluidly. He performed ALL katas in a series of videos from Fukyugata Ichi through Kusanku, and in my opinion, all as near to flawless as I've ever seen. If you want to see ALL videos, they're on KZbin posted by matsubayashiARG, who had the decency to credit Sindt BTW!

Read Nagamine's book, Essence of Okinawan Karate - Do. He gives a history of the traditions that fall into the "Shorin" categorization. I also agree with Larry & Kohsamidah. I love these videos, and share the link with anyone who wants to see some superbly-executed Matsubayashi Kata.

This is Matsubayashi Ryu . Which means pine forest style. It’s lineage of Shorin Ryu dates way back. Whoever the gentleman was that said this isn’t Shorin Ryu needs to study a little more on history. And I know this because this is the art ive studied and continue to train in.
