Do you think 1000mi (1600km) trip in one day would be too much to do for a middle-aged body to handle? I'm really having trouble pulling the trigger on this bike, as it would be the only bike that i own. I've been riding for 17 years but mostly nakeds and cruisers, but im sick of those now.

@@CandlejackZA I'm 41 have been riding an 2012 s1000 RR since 2014. It's a great bike. I've taken it on 6 hour rides when I lived in Hawaii with no roblems. Depending on your height may be better or worse. Im 5'9 and the woman I bought it from was even shorter. If you back is up to it go for it. If you can find someone to let you test it it might help.

@@CandlejackZA The RR is not designed for 1000 mile days. I have an FJR 1300, and at 850 miles in a day, I was more than happy to get off the bike. And, the FJR is known for IBR wins. I’m 57, have ridden for decades, and I’m also drawn to the RR, and also wonder more simply, can I ride it all day, comfortably? My rides are often 8 hours, two or three days at a time. Maybe the RR can’t be my only bike? It’s 250 lbs lighter, and 50hp faster - and that’s a big draw for me.

Go with a new Kawasaki ZX-14R. The S1000RR is a great bike, but you'll find the Kawi more user friendly for longer rides....

@@CandlejackZA That kind of mileage is tough even in a car. I am 64 and I do a 600km round trip on mine in one day to get it serviced and by the time I am home I have had enough. But that is the same on all my bikes so I think 600km is enough on any bike in one day - more is possible of course but then safety becomes a factor.

I have to say I loved this video. I am 43 years old and have many aches and pains from years of living. I'm switching from a bagger to something a bit more sporty. My first thought was a 2024 Hayabusa but I was also thinking of the S1000RR. I appreciate your point of view. Most youtubers talk about "OMG this is wicked fast and it can smoke these other bikes!" I appreciate that you talk about what the real ride experience is for the majority of NON SQUDS out there. Everyday people like to ride and we also like horse power, however, we also like comfort! Honestly this bike appeals to me for the display, the heated grips, nav, and all the built in blue tooth and technological goodies along with the speed and what a superbike might bring to the table!

It’s amazing, wish my body allowed me to keep it; but one year of owning made me a much better rider (you have with that much speed) and when looking off the RR to R I felt like a big fish back in a little pond (in a good way) so you can’t really go wrong 👍🏻

Fast forward now Im 43 and my kids are in college and Im on a 2019 Indian Springfield Dark Horse and I hate it! Cant wait to get back on something with guts. I have just come across your excellent and very informative video. It was extremely timely because at the age of 68 I have been seriously thinking about exchanging my S1000RR for something more sedate (for example, an R nineT). .I am avid cyclist and typically go out for 4-5 hour rides, so comfort on a motorcycle is not an issue,. Your video reinforces my inclination to keep my RR. It is a beautifully engineered machine and riding it is a joy. I have a feeling that if I exchange it, I will inevitably be disappointed with its replacement. Thank you for taking the time to put together your video.

Great review. I'm almost 41 and thinking about getting one of these. I've had a Daytona 675, Ducati 899 and an MV Agusta F3 800. So although an upsize, the power wasn't a concern regarding ability to ride it. However, was interested to see how this is as a road bike. If BMW made an 800, I'd get it. But sadly they don't. You answered a logical question. Cheers.

This has definitely helped swing me towards an s1000rr. Thanks mate

I’d deffo have this over the Ducati. If you were comparing to a streetfighter naked then no, but Panigale vs RR you get so much more with the BMW. If you want less power put the RR in a lower mode; unless you can’t be trusted, then get the supersport 😂

I think the most concerning thing has been feedback from people regarding its reliability. If you check Motomillian's latest video regarding his experience with the M1000RR, it has made me pause. I'm referring to the 2024 bikes that have the winglets. Not sure what the story is concerning reliability, but I'd say there's a reason they're now offering a 5 year warranty. However if a warranty fix is required at any stage, I would then be concerned about whether or not they'd honour the warranty. In that respect, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki are probably safer bets as reliable and cost effective superbikes. The BMW is lower on insurance, but higher in servicing. The Japanese bikes are the reverse. Higher on insurance but lower when servicing.

Been commuting on mine for 2 years. Only gripe is that you need to invest in coils. It's a failure at some point on most of these bikes and I've had to take mine in for 4 coils. And it's been said that it was due to the previous manufacturer before moving them to Japan? But still no recall, as bmw loves to do.

You know what, fellas? I'm 54 and I'am trying to figure out would I like this bike or go with a standard hyper naked. I have a motocross background and used to have a 20' Yamaha MT-10 that built as a touring machine. I sold it and got a 22' Honda CRF450R Works Edition dirt bike. But now I miss my street bike! It's been killing me trying to find out what bike to get as one bike to ride. I'm looking at a Husqvarna 701 Supermoto because it's fun and comfortable. Or do I want to go back to an MT-10 SP? The only thing I didn't like about the MT-10 was the weight and the heat that it gave off. I live in Arizona and that heat off that bike kept me off it. I test rode a 22' BMW GS Adventure and found it boring. It was comfortable but boring because the acceleration didn't excite me! We will see soon. This S1000 RR seems interesting but that riding stance with those low bars has me hesitant.

I am currently deciding between the RR or R versions of the bike after not riding for 100 or so years. Your series is the best rundown of these bikes on youtoob - by a long way. I am 20 years older than you and have spent a lifetime on Ducatis - but I am over the super high rear set positions on the Ducatis and the burnt bum and legs that go with it all...I'd prefer an RR but I think I will end up with an R because of this - and no interest in the fugly XR or the twin pots that BMW make. Love your channel mate - happy new year from down under.

Thanks so much for the kind comment 🙏🏻 Don’t rule out the XR, friends that have it love it! (And out ride me). @@kirillromazenko2799 I had an RR for a year, no issues. Friend has a 2 year old RR he’s had a year again no issues. Now have a R and friend has an R he had fork seal leak, all replaced on warranty no drama. As with everything it is luck of the draw but for us (touch wood) BMW has been good. 👍🏻

I’m fairly young and still have a year or 2 before I can consider getting a bike like this and currently ride a ninja 400. Is it a bad idea to upgrade to a bike like this and skip the 600cc class or go for the intermediate size? I’m just a little curious on other peoples opinions I’m by no means an aggressive rider and was under the impression going to a later bike was going to not only be too much for road use but for personal skill I have now been riding for 3-4 years commuting to work school and University just about every day have done roughly 100,000kms between 2 bikes. Just as a little background info. I’m really interested in getting an s1000 I just am up in the air and don’t want to just go talk to the dealer about it.

You can without a shadow of a doubt be able to ride this and ride it well with time. However what is you and what is the electronics? I think if you can get a r6 for a year then this you will be a better rider. If you’re of the view electronics are here to stay and all your future bikes will have them then you could take a short cut. But be warned that top end speed is easy and addictive; it can cost you your license or worse; only you can judge how sensible you’ll be.

@@yodomcat okay I might just look into getting something along the lines of an abs Daytona as that was my alternative. Then put in some track time to hone my skills as a rider I was really intrigued by the electronics on the bmw as 400s have literally 0 I have an digital clock and that’s it but I don’t want anything more for it anyway. I got a suit recently and intend to do some of the advanced courses soon

Could it be that you are not supporting your body with your core muscles, and are putting unnecessary weight onto your wrists? I have owned many sportsbikes, mostly 1000s, into my mid sixties, and never had any discomfort, and I had rearsets on quite a few bikes as well. If you haven't read "The Upper Half of the Motorcycle" by Bernt Spiegel, please check it out: a brilliant book, sadly, it's expensive.

Good one I am guessing that you will be keeping the bike and giving them the £9,000 or do you just give it back .How does this work ,I am going to check out your nervous rider vlog for sure . Good view cheers Dom : )

@yodomcat 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Malcolm 👍🏻 At the end of the three years you give them the £9k and you own the bike. That 9k you might be able to refinance again on a PCP but at that level a straight forward loan is best. If you don’t do the whole 3 years you can still get out with a settlement figure. Works exactly like it does with cars.

Took out an M sport last weekend and I don’t really know what to think of it. How much fun do you have on yours? I found it crazy fast but worried I’ll end up dead if I buy one.
