4 years ago... oh well, I'll comment and KZbin will suggest it to others. I just got a new Bike, A Brand spankers New Suzuki V-strom 250SX, I only have 6 months of riding under my belt. But I rode to work today, because there are only 2 fine days for the next week and a bit, and today was one of them. that's about 50-60 minutes per day, in peak traffic. It can only help to improve, as the goal is to get there and back alive! (and use 1/3 the gas of a modern hatchback) In the weekends, I could go for a cruise, a day away spent in my own head while it's in a good place. Or I could, and am planning a ride with an old friend who also just brought a Brand-New Bike. on a road we both know... one that's actually brilliant for running engine in, as well as... being overtaken by idiots in Tesla model 3's that think it's a racetrack (I was so hoping I would see him upside down in the ditch so I could tell him he deserved that!) some Bikers ride that way on this road too, but that's too big of a risk with how tight and blind those corners are! I'm mid 40's & been driving since... The first Motorkhana I did when I was 13. I've done many of those, and being in the top 3 every time gets boring, Autocross is more of a challenge, as I'm against other Rally drivers who have the particular skill set to make me work for it. and then there's Rallying. No circuit, that doesn't interest me as much, I'll watch, I'll help, but I'd rather race on a slippery surface. But the first time on the Motorway with the bike? I was dreading that for ages, and it didn't take long for someone to try to block me from merging just because I was on a Bike. It's like being surrounded by hungry Loins that want to attack me. This sounds crazy, but the only time I felt comfortable then, was when a Motorcycle COP was sticking close to me... that's the only time the cars behaved themselves! I was so disappointed when he, decided to start lane splitting and left me behind... It made me feel vulnerable once more! But as I started by getting a scooter to reduce the time sitting around in the car going to and from work, I started in Peak traffic, I was nervous, I got shitty at people who tried to invade my bubble, and block me from being able to filter & reduce congestion for everybody, not just myself (if more people were not alone in a car, but riding a bike, traffic would be nowhere near as bad as it is) Riding through the suburbs in peak traffic is not a problem, but when people do the same thing at high speed, when the manoeuvrability is much less, and the risk much higher, that scares me. You can argue that everyone is going the same direction, but until you see all the people who got a license overseas and never took a driving test in this country drive, and change lanes without looking. cannot maintain a consistent speed, brake hard for no reason causing other cars to have accidents behind them, push into another lane no matter who is already there... NOBODY is going in the same direction at the same speed, so that is not a valid argument, the Motorway is NOT safer than the urban traffic at all! (not unless there is a cop around so they all stop being assholes, that is why I actually like driving/riding near a cop on the motorway)

I hear the m1000r has some serious vibration on the handle bar which tires your arms hands out. How is the s1000 with vibration? it seemed more stable to me on the video.
@yodomcat
@yodomcat 3 күн бұрын
I found vibes better with the M to my S. however since this video I have changed my S bars to M and that is a bit better but still not as good as the full M. So I think the combination of the bars with the smoother RR engine is what is doing it. Also the M I took out had the carbon wheels which may come into play also.

@yodomcat if i get the m what could i get aftermarket to reduce the vibration? I will be commuting about 180 miles regularly so i just dont want that souring the ride.
@yodomcat
@yodomcat 3 күн бұрын
@@walter5401 bar ends are the obvious there is a brand heavier than stock (can’t think of their name); there is also some gloves you can get that you wear under yours which help. A taller screen will add downforce (but then the wings do that), then keep the revs either low or high. But I think you’re overthinking it; get one for a weekend and put some serious saddle time in and then you’ll know if it’s for you 👍🏻

I have just come across your excellent and very informative video. It was extremely timely because at the age of 68 I have been seriously thinking about exchanging my S1000RR for something more sedate (for example, an R nineT). .I am avid cyclist and typically go out for 4-5 hour rides, so comfort on a motorcycle is not an issue,. Your video reinforces my inclination to keep my RR. It is a beautifully engineered machine and riding it is a joy. I have a feeling that if I exchange it, I will inevitably be disappointed with its replacement. Thank you for taking the time to put together your video.

First time adjusting engagement point (still learning motorbike mechanics) after watching your video. Very informative! I have several years of experience in bicycle repair and I will say this works EXACTLY the same as adjusting cable-pull brake. The only difference is that they work in the opposite way, where you loose the nut (more in), you have nearer engagement point on motorbike, and you will have more lever travel to trigger the brake on bicycle. As the clutch is just a "reversed version" of brake 😅. Thank you!

Hi, no, not squeezing the lever. Remember you can also adjust with a spanner at the clutch end (left hand side down by engine) if you have/haven’t got enough slack - this video just shows a minor adjustment.

I did my CBT at karmenz have to say they are damn good, professional and easygoing guys there. Its always a bit awkward doing a CBT ride cause it's not like normal riding, you have to concentrate on listening out for instructions and staying with the group when safe to do so on top of the usual stuff like keeping an eye on traffic, using your indicators etc and the radio signal can get shitty if you get too far from the instructor But the guys at karmenz handle this really well, they know what to do in every single situation you can tell they have been doing this for a long time

I only passed my mod 2 because ironically I had thought I had failed in the first 10 minutes. I failed to understand the examiners instructions due to comms issues on a roundabout and had gone into lane 2 on roundabout where I was supposed to be proceeding straight, Only realised he said 2 not 3 when I saw him in lane 1 in his car at the roundabout. I just went around the roundabout twice to ensure I wasn’t being dangerous but i thought as I hadn’t followed his instructions i would have failed. Straight after that I calmed down and started riding normal as I believed I was no longer under any pressure as I had already failed in my mind. I got back to the test centre and was told i passed, with the only errors being that i went 22 in a 20, and not seeing a large pothole in the road on a negative camber turn i nearly hit the pothole but was more focussed on the positioning for the turn.
