Great video Tim - so many people will benefit from learning how to have an annual approach and at least have some preparations in place rather than the stress of earning as they go on the day.

Your drench holder is very nifty. Lateral thinking there using the vice to bend the flat bar, too!

Good morning, Tim, that was a brilliant tutorial. Gavin has an amazing grasp of the sheep industry and delivers his knowledge in such an excellent manner. And as always Doris looks magnificent, as per our livestock, very spoilt. I took your advice and made my second cup and got my sticky bun before I sat down to listen & learn, Cheers

Hi Tim, are diseases an indication that something is overlooked with the management system? It seems troubling to be dosing animals with 'toxic' chemicals that you're not willing to allow yourself to come in contact with. To someone who is an outside observer it seems incongruent that eventually these animals will be consumed by humans.

Short answer is no. Diseases are a natural evolutionary pressure on any population. Poor management can make them worse and good management much less likely. Any wild population is impacted by disease. Good livestock husbandry is knowing how to minimise the disease pressures and prevent unnecessary death and suffering in the flock. Hence Gavin and his observations on vaccine. We should not use drenches unless necessary and when we do, minimise our contact as we treat all animals. Good management such as described in this series will help reduce our need to drench. A small exposure to drenches won’t hurt you, but hours of it leaking down your back can exceed safe limits of exposure. I treat my animals when necessary as I don’t derive pleasure from animals suffering. Hope that sums up where I stand. I’m not a chemical Charley. But I’m not a hippie either.
