I'm a Brit but married a Yank 25 years ago. Most of America pronounces it the way this guy does. When you tell them how its actually pronounced. They will reply, 'yea that's what I said, Edinburg, right?' lol. It's just a thing they cant get their tongues around, thats all. How do you pronounce Wessagusset or Saskatchewan. Now the boots on the other foot. I have to laugh, as it appears from the comments here, that half of our own people, don't know the correct pronounciation either. As a child I grew up in Scarburg by the way lol.

One thing I've learnt over the years is to ask politely how to pronounce names that you don't know, then you don't get into trouble, A classic in Syney Australia is Woolloomooloo, here in Kent, UK, there are many place names I will give you one, Ightham. You do have to ask the local.
