About Captivating the King, you might want to mention that the attraction begins with the fact that Hee Soo is an undefeated baduk player who happens to be passing as male. My Dearest is a mostly unsurpassed Kdrama in recent years. The two male leads in these dramas are total heartthrobs. Watched all the other dramas and they are enjoyable with Mr Queen being the best of the rest.

My Country - New Age has brilliant acting. As a lover of Kdrama (I’m non Korean) it hit all the right notes for me. Not a love story as such, but about love of a country, fighting for what you believe in. Mostly it’s about brotherhood. Should get way more accolades than it does. Rates 8.1 on IMDb which is pretty good.

@@Larsa409 in one word, this show is a MASTERPIECE. It is not light and fluffy, so it won’t appeal to a lot of Kdrama fans. The 3 leads deserved the Oscar equivalent for their portrayal. Cinematography, set design and costumes were up there with the best I have ever seen. Yes you need a box of tissues, it was never going to be a HEA. For me not knowing a great deal of the Korean era depicted. I viewed it as a real experience of how a series can captivate one’s senses, it takes you on a ride back into history. It is a thinking persons series, there is not one scene or dialogue that isn’t totally needed. I haven’t rewatched it as yet, but it is one that I am sure I will. In my top 5 of all Kdramas I have viewed, the list is long! 🇦🇺😊

Worthy of mention: "Secret Royal Inspector and Joy" (Taeyeon!), "River Where the Moon Rises," "Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist" and part 2, as well. Also the film "Homme Fatale," starring Lee Jun-ho! Than I should recommend you one drama name the untamed Once you've seen The Untamed , no other drama can fulfill your needs, because The Untamed has set a higher standard. I've watched almost all K-dramas and C-dramas, but no drama compares to The Untamed. Untamed has all kinds of emotions it is the best drama and also most famous historical drama.. it is the most viewed historical drama . This drama is also available in many languages. And for me no kdrama or cdrama can compete with this drama

Alchemy of Souls was very good. My favorite is Hwarang followed by Moon Lovers. Have also watched The King's Affection. It was good too.

I came across about 5 episodes free quite randomly and then discovered I could only watch the whole series on Viki, a paid site. After checking that it was a legit site I joined. The series is so good I thought it was worth joining at least for the month so that I could finish it. There are many aspects of this series which are based on truth including the king dedication to his people and his love for this woman. Ended up staying with Viki as it has so many good series. Just when I was feeling that even though I enjoyed many historical shows nothing could top The Red Sleeve along came My Dearest and totally mesmerised me……. It is still my number one. These two series are not to be missed. I’m also in Australia and recommend joining Viki the monthly cost is actually less than than Netflix
