Can you comment on how this has affected the mud, dirt and water coming up over the back of the bike since it is in place?

Was it just me or did you thread those bolts in a normal direction? Are they really left hand threads or is the bolt just upside down? 🤨

I wouldn't use black oxide coated hardware for bolts that are going to be exposed to the elements. The corrosion protection is extremely weak since the oxide layer does not prevent rust at all without oiling or wax. I know silver/yellow zinc would stand out but there are also black zinc/chrome hardware you can buy now to replace it with.

I understand you probably just bought what was at the store for the sake of the video, but you have time now that its done. Those bolts WILL rust if you leave them long enough, and it wont be the loctite holding them in lol

This simple mechanical process was ABOVE your skill level….and you failed to do your homework. That’s why you ruined the bolt & part of the body work. Better prep for the job next time so you don’t bugger up any more things. Rookie mistake.

Yep, made a mistake. If only there was a manual or a video online that would have showed me how to do it properly that could have been avoided. BUT THERE WAS NOT - so I hope this video teaches people from my mistakes. I’m here learning as I go since I was never taught this stuff growing up. I enjoy the process.

@@BurtoniMotors there is a service manual, but you have to buy it and it isn't cheap. Thanks for sharing your mistake so we can learn from it.
