Hi Gary, Happy New Year! I pulled out and set up my trays, cells, grow light, heat mat, temperature regulator, etc. Tomorrow I begin sowing seeds. I am starting with onions, cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. I still have comfrey, parsley, oregano, chives, rosemary, spearmint, and peppermint growing, so only need to so sow seeds for basil, dill, and cilantro. If I have Marjoram seeds in my seed box, I'll grow them too. I tried growing Yarrow last year, but it, and catnip don't like the soil in my herb garden. It is probably the worst soil on the property, which is why I use it for growing herbs. I have a lot of flowers on my list to plant this year, zinnias, cosmos, alyssum, butterfly weed, butterfly flower, purple coneflower, bachelor button, amaranth, Mammoth sunflower, and marigolds. I'll work them in with my second and third batches on the heat mat.

Horsemint grows wild here, also called bee balm, bergamot, or monardia. Mine is pale lavender. I move it around if it comes up in an inconvenient place. Many of these herbs have medicinal uses as well. Yarrow is good to stop bleeding of wounds. I need to get outside and plant my perennials and self seeding annuals this week.

I use the mosquito dunks for my large rain water reservoir from Amazon. It comes in a 20 pack and one is active up to a month. I've been subscribed to your channel for 5to6 years. You need to update your system and do more research on the seeds you are starting. Some seeds do need light and stratification for better germination. The videos were informative but with experience the videos you are making now are uneducated. Love the channel but, move on with technology and proper seed starting.
@THERUSTEDGARDEN
@THERUSTEDGARDEN 2 күн бұрын
Well thanks for watching all those years. I don't see the benefit of stratification on a large scale. I mention it. It helps but generally it's not a huge difference. As for light. Very few seeds need that. And the light can penetrate below the surface a good bit too. Just a difference of opinion and past experience with stratifying and seeds that say they need light. I just wasn't significant. Good luck this year.
@juneramirez8580

If you sterilize your soil it’s going to do most of the work for you. Mosquito Bits are just an extra measure of gnat prevention that is available to us. It’s not essential it’s just a tool.
@THERUSTEDGARDEN
@THERUSTEDGARDEN Күн бұрын
Not lost. Just options. Remember you can pick and choose. Boiling water works. I did it for years. MB are just an option. So you dont have to buy them or use boiling water. Hopefully you never get fungus gnats because they are problematic. Those that have, want options. I answer like 95% of the comments in this public forum. Sometimes I miss them. But if you look at any video you'll see all the questions I answer. Good luck.
