Preppers mistakes are not firearms and ammo, it is gadgets over skills. They need to save for Big ticket necessities (solar battery units, generators, purchasing propane over renting, maintaining vehicles at a higher level ...) not fritter away funds on the 'newest' if the one they have works first time every time.

BASIC MISTAKE of most preppers = spending too much on FIREARMS & AMMO ! Your basic needs are water, food, & shelter. Many preppers live in a "fantasy world" of dystopian movies like the "Mad Max" original & sequels & copies. Despite their plots, the most difficult part of survival is NOT fighting off hoards of outlaws, but rather just DAY TO DAY SURVIVAL - cooking, eating, drinking, avoiding injury & illness, and doing the same day after day. SPEND more $$$ on food, water purification, & temp shelter !

I was already prepping but the next 4 years for obvious and dangerously dysfunctional reasons, prepping is a good idea. 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 will be horrible.

forget survival, i can not afford to eat all month long NOW. the utility corps keep raising there rates. and i use so little. kinda hard to buy food or anything for the future. when i can not afford today.

I juice or water fast one day a week, for economy not choice. I have electric hot water, I throw, turn off, that breaker whenever I leave, sleep or won't need it . With an insulating blanket I'm never without warm water and if I want really hot water I flip 'on' the breaker . I'm up grading that with a heavy duty timer. My bill is regularly at courtesy level we pay just to have the hookups.

@danam.8709 Of course, plus I purchased items already on my menu. It means I've reached steady state with the size of my larder/stores/pantry.
