Hey Mark, thanks for that long long video. It is so interesting to hear what's going on in Canada. So, here in Germany it's likewise not allowed moving people on the back of a pickup truck. The blinds story is one of the craziest things I ever heard of. Who have made this law? Nincompoops? Haha, I remember that word. Thank God, we have no monarchy here in Germany. Nevertheless, camping in the boonies is strictly forbidden all the time. Next topic is the tax thing. Omg, I really don't know how many kinds of taxes we have to pay. VAT (19 percent), income tax, gas tax, CO2 tax (I'm not kidding), car tax, electricity tax, insurance tax, and many many more. Couple of days ago I have read, in Germany we have to pay all in all 47 percent tax of our income. Isn't that crazy? Trust me! I was pretty shocked when I have read this too. Tip is the same here. I'm writing these facts to comfort you a little bit. 😊 Have a good one. Michael from Germany 🇩🇪

Loved the video. It's very informative and real. I agree with your views on everything, especially monarchs. However, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that services in underdeveloped countries may seem cheap for someone coming from the west, but for their citizens these services cost a lot compared to their annual income. That's why most immigrants come from such poor countries, not the other way round. No place is perfect.

Hello! I was interested to learn how Canadians living here would describe their life. I arrived in Canada a month ago with my family, and I really miss home, which no longer exists. It makes me even sadder and more melancholic; sometimes I just want to howl and scream out of helplessness and despair. Everything is relative; you have a home and a country that protects you, and inconveniences and restrictions are all so relative, so insignificant compared to what could have been (destruction of a home, displacement, loss of friends, fear for family). And you can never, never go back to the life you loved and criticized at the same time. I'm happy for you that you can talk about it so calmly; cherish what you have now. And remember, it's not forever, unfortunately. Everything has an end, and in most cases, it's tragic and sad.

Land transfer tax in Toronto is $32,000 for a one million dollar house (Provincial tax + Municipal tax). Outside of GTA like, for example, York Region, it's $16,000 for a one million dollar house. So, if you buy a house in Toronto for $2 million, you have to pay $64,000 only LTT plus other expenses. If you have a second house and you sell it, you have to pay tax on 50% of your capital gain.

Mark, just wondering at those mentioned taxes Canadian people had to pay, wondering if some of the money collected from these taxes goes to the King of England. And wondering also if he has some say to maybe lower or eliminating some of these taxes especially that one where you get taxed using the "Crown Land" to set up a campground for a night or two. Peace!

Mr Mark, one thing to mention about the healthcare system is that in Alberta 50% of the taxes you pay go to the health system. So it is absolutely not free. I pay $1000 a month to the Alberta health system (through taxes) so if you think about getting a $1000 insurance plan in the USA you would probably get better and faster service.

Your method of teaching English is great. You teach words and idioms and collocations indirectly. I can hear and see how the words are used naturally in spoken English. Most other teacher just list: 10 idioms you need to know; 20 C1 words; 30 expressions native speakers use, etc. Their method of teaching is boring, but your method is more interesting and informative because you talk about social, political, economic subjects as well as climate, housing crisis in Canada, taxes, inheritance tax, etc. Keep up the good work. In colder seasons you can travel to warmer places. I love when you walk in nature.

This lesson as others are teaching us so much! I find awful that Canada is still belonging to this awful BritishesMonarchy but you got a French part in Canada as Quebec. They are more forward as others I think. For sure this Crown's power had to get profite on their property. Get them out if you ask all for it. That's time ! The word Chamber comes from "la chambre" that means the room . This about your big cars trucks there , in Spain there aren't all open back, maybe thats useful just for farmers and not all are farmers by you I think. We get closed vans and passengers can sit or sleep there by the way all these cars are more to get some powwrful feeling to the drivers I heard and they can't even see a kid or an animal crossing the road. They are expensive too, the costs on oil had to be very high!

Mark, it was a great video! I always watch your videos like movies. They are both informative and interesting. You are a very clever man and this video is awesome. It would be really interesting to chat with you about different things. In Russia you would definitely be not allowed to drive people in the back of your truck. Our citizens have various kinds of blinds on the windows in their houses. But there is a much more dangerous thing on the window and that is a grid that protects from mosquitoes. These grids are allowed and they are installed. But children fall out of the windows from time to time. It's a tragedy. Toddlers don't understand that such a grid is not a wall they lean against it and ... they fall out.Authorities place adverts and articles in local newspapers to remind parents to take better care of their children. Healthcare system used to be not excellent before the nineties but now it is going down. I meen a free part of it. There are different options of private clinics and practices but they are rather expensive. But on the top of things I found what is really good - and that is public transit. At least in cities and capitals. And another nice thing this system has been really improving every year. Moscow subway is a fairy tail with the wide network of stations. St. Petersburg, Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk , Samara, Nizhny Novgorod have their subways. There are buses, trolleybuses, minivans in the streets. The routes are being optimized from time to time. St.Petersburg optimized its public transit system one or two years ago. In smaller cities authorities also pay attention to this sphere of life and do their best to make it better. I hope you won't find this long comment boring... Thank you. I will wait for a new episode of Mad English TV!

Having people in the back of your truck - I hope it's a joke. If you get into a car accident, it's like being in a motorcycle without a helmet and gear. Imagine having a family member back there, and you have to brake hard. There goes grandma or aunty or nephew. Some countries let it happen, but the countries that make it illegal are right. For venecian blinds, 30 kids died in a 20-year period, and they just stopped them from having the string. Not all parents are bright. Why do you wanna get touched after a haircut? 😮 I think it's a spa. If you want something like that you can open a business and sounds like an opportunity. The cost of infrastructure to build a train around the country which huge, it would cost billions. Comparing that with Germany who is a lot smaller is crazy. 100,000 miles vs 3 or 4 million miles that's insane. Not counting the lack of men power to even start that project. House expense is outrageous I understand. Try New York Lol. It's horrible. No one can afford anything these days.

Thank you for your video. Reheated Pizza for breakfast! Another great canadian tradition. Trucks? Ha! You think that's bad? Here when you buy a car you have to register the car under your name with the government for a "fee" and this "proves" the car is legally yours. You can take a loan out on the car, you can legally sell the car, the paper proves the car is yours to do what you want with. Well once a year the government declares that registration null and void here and sets their pigs out to set up road blocks and catch you where you are given a fine for being an illegal car owner. It's a "shakedown". Like you'd pay the Mafia for "protection". Pay the Government, and the pigs protect you, don't pay and the pigs make you pay one way or the other. BUT! If you pay the illegal "shakedown", the pigs are then your worst enemies because they can't fill their quota in fines they must write every month or face reprimands from their "superiors" that only proves the idiot pigs to be "inferior". Imagine, accepting a position of inferiority so you can hide your sorry ass behind a gun and a badge. Here in Canaduh there are three easy prerequisites to become a pig. An armed "enforcer" for the "Meant to Govern". First, one must be too stupid to develop their own ideals and opinions and being so ignorant, their only way through life with any sense of "security" for these poor ignorant people is for them to adopt the opinions and ideals of their superiors automatically making themselves inferior, and enforcing those ideals and opinions on the general public with a gun. Second, one must be a coward in order to be a pig. One who so fears failure that again, they are incapable of formulating their own ideals and opinions because they "might be wrong", so they adopt the ideals and opinion of the "great winners" and enforce them upon the community with a gun. Last but not least, these wanna be pigs have an awareness "deep down" of their great character flaws of ignorance and cowardice, and to make up for them they decide they are going to "do good" and be heroes, ... being too stupid to understand that only "bad people" have to "do good" because good is all good people do and they don't need a gun to do it. Face it, canadians are too ignorant to work together in respect, dignity, and diplomacy, for the greater good, the highest potential, the holy and divine Win/Win, so they demand to weaken themselves as a potentially powerful and united people with separation where they divide into "parties" and set to fighting and fucking each other as civilized, sane, wise,. and honorable. There's no fixing that special brand of Self Inflicted Retardation and it's a sin how that kind of S.I.R. fixes itself. The poor perverted children didn't stand a chance did we? Oh well, it sucks to be a Canadian these days and by the time the idiots figure it out, it will be far too late for the losers. And it's a good thing too because by the time the childish win/lose mentality reverts back to the reality of our live/die lives, .... the filthy losers won't be around to be make work projects for pigs and prison guards. Remember, the pigs protect the elite, the entitled, and those great winners in a perverted world of childish win/lose and the ignorant canadian pays their salaries. Keep up the great work and good luck.

So what!? Trucks are dumb. Most people don't need them. You're better off renting a van when you need one. What's wrong with sedans?

Okay so it's also illegal in the states to ride in the bed of the truck as well. It's a safety issue. People have died from it.

Adding on. I think the states actually started that law and canadia picked up on it.
