8mph?? Those must be some super duper combines 😂

We have that head and it does a good job of exploding the stalk tips. We are doing NT and the stalks stay in the old row when planting. We still use the strip till like you sold but before Cotton. We run a stalk chopper in summer to knock out the old stalks. Our residue gives us 100% coverage but in the Amarillo sky the soil temp is 70 degrees at May planting. We have to go about 2.8 mph because we only have a 9770sts. That Big Boy should be idling at 2,900 bu/hr, but the trucks will be hauling...

lol, wow, our dealership doesn't have 4x4's. 8 thousand series is usually as big as we go. Nice =p. Getting something new is freakin' cool though. I like your video of bringing it in. haha, I've done that a lot. GG. I wish my dad would belive my arm movements.

Keep your grain kart when you intend to buy a new one then you shouldn't have to worry to much bout setting till the semi gets back or wagons.

Did you get the row sense activation in the 2630?
@WernerAg5 жыл бұрын
We've got a trial for it. I'm not sure off hand how much the activation is though.

@@WernerAg 3000 i think. Its been 6 years since we bought it

It’s 2300.00. But if your dealer has a spring parts sale / AMS discount you can usually get it for 1700.00 same cost as your one time purchase for swath control for planting / spraying. Do yourself a huge favor on that head and get the lankota or Deere drop out style automatic height sensors. Worth every single penny. You’ll find out that if you feed one of the row units a rock and shell the chopping unit out your going to spend a minimum of 4000$ to get it back running and can spend a lot more than that if there is more damage. Good luck with new to you guys equipment.

Don't you have a 16 row planter? How's that going to go with a 12 row head?
@WernerAg5 жыл бұрын
We will have instances where we will have 8 rows of corn but within 5 years we will go to a 24 row planter as we will be expanding acres.

Why did you and your dad go with the 690 instead of a 9870 or a 680
@WernerAg5 жыл бұрын
We bought this 690 on an auction for one heck of a deal. Cheapest 690 ever sold. Wasn't planning on buying it as we were going to buy a 9870 and keep our 9650 and run two combines but this 690 was in superb condition compared to the 9870s at the auction. Let's just say we were in the right place at the right time.

That is why my son runs the cart and likes the IVT & Independent Link Suspension. The coordinating of the combine and cart to keep field travel short helps a lot.

That's been my job during harvest and with having IVT and ILS on a grain cart tractor it really makes the job really nice.
