I was doing Pro Tools from about 2000-2015 and then switched to Logic. Even after almost 8 years in Logic I find the region management in Logic incomprehensible. Your explanations here are accurate in showing how incomprehensible they are (especially after learning in Pro Tools). If I have to do this sort of thing, I will create a new track and put the regions where I want them (Command-D is my saving grace). Even then, I often find trying to create crossfades to cover pops/clicks between regions a hit-and-miss proposition. It was so easy in Pro Tools. Of course, I’m always open to the proposition that I’m just an idiot. Cheers!

I’ve been thinking more about this while I’ve been working over the past couple of days and have been trying different approaches using the Drag selector and I think the problem is that you have to make your decision on how it’s going to react BEFORE you make your move instead of making your move and then deciding what’s needed in this situation. As it is, I have to think about what each selection will do and then make a choice based on what I think will be needed. I’ve found that 1) my guesses about what each approach will do have not been great and 2) my guesses about what will be needed after the move have not been great. If I could make my move and then run through the choices, that would be a lot easier than making my move with one choice, then undoing, change the choice, make the move again…undo…change choice, redo move, etc etc etc.

Last thing. Moving regions around is not something I do as a matter of course. Maybe 1 in 10 songs needs a region moved so, when it comes up, it’s not something for which I’ve built muscle memory or clear procedures for myself. I’m fumbling in the dark most every time. I guess I just think the Logic choices could be more clear and intuitive. Or, at least, less baffling. (Nothing against your explanation here, you did as good a job as can be done)

Using Shuffle leaves tiny gaps of time. Any way to have the regions actually snap together? Editing a multiwav that's in 3 sections. When editing in PT, the regions snap right together and there's no gap or pop, but Logic doesn't close the gap all the way when you zoom in, so there is a pop.

I’m a bit unclear about the snap features, in that, as I understand it, they work on the boundaries (I believe that’s the term) of the region and not the musical performance within it, which never seems to be an exact beat or division thereof. Is there a way to account for this?

Logic pro Snap - worse, that happens to me in my music carrier..reaper, Live, cubase etc - snap - just snap. But not a Logic..😵‍💫
