A KIND PERSON WHO CAN SHARE THE PROJECT WITH ME? unfortunately I don't use logic 11, but I had the opportunity to listen to that project live on a computer and it's crazy

Hello I wanted to add my tip. Instead of duplicate the track and turning it off and hide, I duplicate as a track alternative then bounce the new track alternative. I find it is easier to come back to. Great channel first time I comment I think but I have been following for years now and wow that I've learned so much so I just want to say that I am greatful for all this info. Anyway this video's tip is great too.

The edit to zero crossing feature is amazing! But is there no way to just do that to all of your transients with one click using some kind of grouping technique? I'm guessing not...?

Great video, but can anybody tell me why i see so much variation between producers in regards to gain staging multi track drums. For example, these kicks appear on the "lower side" yet i've seen other producers with kick transients going as high as -3 dB, isn't the goal to reduce the noise floor by having your peaks as close to 0 dB as possible before clipping? How much of a difference would this make in an overall drum mix? I am genuinely asking because i'm still not happy with my drum mixes and i'm wondering if i'm approaching this the wrong way.

It seems pretty straight forward to sequence out built in instruments, can you do it with external instruments like diva cutoff

Hi Chris! I’ve been watching Take Folder tutorials for vocals and my dilemma is after a number of takes, how do you know where to select in the additional takes to find what you like better to replace? Thanks.

Great video Chris! Thanks for showing some more options and how you work with this! It is amazing that this is just "built in" to Logic!

I am looking for a banjo, a fiddle, a cello and a string section. In one case, I found a banjo, but one note works, and the rest do not. I like the voicing (it's an audio file in garage band). How can I convert to mid, pick the melody I want, but keep the same sound I found as it's an audio patch not a midi instrument?

Another very good video by Chris. He could have mentioned that if you turn on Cycle Mode when recording takes the program will continue to cycle the recording, creating a new take every time and all the takes will be perfectly lined up. Also if you want to keep your takes you can just copy the takes track and then flatten and merge the copy, Much easier than having to assemble the comps one by one.

When I drag a small wav file into the track header section it just rejects the files and doesn't open up that "Create New Track using" menu... what am I doing wrong?

I’m a rent convert to logic after 25 years of reason. I was looking for a great controller keyboard to manage logic and after finding your video it hadn’t even occurred to use the iPad remote app and now you can edit the key commands in the app ……I’m buying an iPad . Thanks 🙏 ❤

Very helpful, especially the part about changing the end length to get the group editing to work. Btw, there is a good reason to flatten and merge: Nudging elements without flattening/merging is a pain. (I think there is a way to kind of do it in Logic, but it's so much of a pain that I never do it.) It's much easier to make those sorts of edits to a flattened track. This is one of my major gripes about Logic: Making those small multi-track drum nudging edits is much more difficult than with the other DAWs I've used (Digital Performer and Pro Tools).

Hi Chris, I use flatten take because I can't fade in/out or create a cross fade between regions that have a take folder, is this possible do you know?

Click and hold the region, then press and hold Control while dragging.

If I remember correctly, you can access a menu in the take folder (start of the top bar of the track)... where you can choose to create a new track from the active comp. Instead of the standard bounce you did. BTW you can't take (lol) people seriously that send such a messy session where drums don't even start at the same beat every time and where they refuse to record takes with the take folder. This is just a stupid way to waste money and (your precious) time. But I hope they watch and learn from this video!
@thesunshinemanmusic5 күн бұрын
Thanks for making this vid. I use the Take folders much the same way. I usually use “Export to a New Track” when my edits are finished. One thing i haven’t tried is grouping drums in this way. I have a bunch of drum tracks to put together and I’m gonna give this a try. If I can get them set up correctly the editing will be a breeze. Cheers! 🎸😎👍🎄🎅

Right on Chris as usual. Thx. Im a trumpet player/producer doing Latin House and want to try to see if keyboard session player can do the latin piano.
@chrisbjornnmusic5 күн бұрын
Why wouldn't you instead just record to the drummer or click and avoid all of this? It just sounds like a sloppy drummer to me when you match the drums to a guitar track that wasn't recorded to a click.

I watched the "overlap" section 3 times and could not understand what you were trying to tell us. I always go to your videos first but this time I got lost. Could you maybe do a short on overlap? I really can't see any use for it; except if for some reason one wanted to preserve original audio, based on the impression I get from watching this video. thanks. I need to look it up in the users guide I suppose

Don't be so quick to transfer Logic Pro Library to an external SSD because you may end up with problems . I ended up having to delete the Library and remove the external SSD and reinstall the entire Library to the Default location . Takes about an hour .

at 14:30 you can stretch the view horizontally and you can slow the tempo to make it easier to deal with that quick chord progression .

Note, five years later in 2024, this demo project is not available in Logic (I’m using 10.7.9 currently ) - I still have it because I saved it back in 2019 (2017?) from a can’t-remember-which version of Logic when it first came out (and I’m just now ready to do a deep dive in it right now in 2024.) Same for the Billie Eilish Logic project. So save those demo projects to one of your own folders if you think you’ll ever want to look at it later.

I love Logic but flex pitch has far too many artefacts to be professionally used on a vocal track. Melodyne is chalk and cheese in quality.

I have my vocals all going to a bus with the comp, spread, chorus, hipass, loudness and glow. Should I bus that out to a parallel compression bus? Or should it only be the original?

Thanks! It was good to actually see pitch correction being used, instead of just being explained. Having done pitch correction in studio recordings over a decade ago, this was a great reminder of how to do it effectively. Loved the emphasis on perfect is not always better!
