I didn't quite realize the full potential of x-mod till I watched your part 1 & 2 videos. This whole OB-6 tutorial has been super helpful, thanks dude!

I like your videos and I like your presentation. You are insightful, energetic and really fun to watch. I have an OB 6 module that I just got and this series has helped me out a lot so thanks and kudos to you. The OB 6 is not my first analog poly but the character and the richness of it make it a joy to work with. Plus the X Mod on PW 1 helps me achieve the Journey Seperate Ways sound more convincingly than just LFO alone.. Cool!

That patch 001 at about 9:30 in the video is awesome! This whole series is awesome and I love your enthusiasm. Thanks for these videos.

At 3:37 he inadvertently (and sublimely) plays the opening motif of Carla Bley’s Vashkar.

If Jimmy Page were a synth player, he would have played that riff at 9:47

Astonishing synth. I also noticed that this X-Mod section is above the pitch and mod wheels which is handy for live tweaking during a performance. Is a pitty that the filter resonance cannot be modulated, though... actually, this modulation destination is quite rare in anything non-modular. Do you have an idea of why is that? Cheers!

Hey Marc, that patch at 9.30 is amazing! If I end up getting an OB-6, please could you share the SysEx file for that sound, I’d be so very grateful. Thanks.

Gareth Hughes, is it? I thought the synth was in preset mode and if so the knob positions wouldn’t necessarily reflect the parameters.

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a man a fishing rod, and he can sell that fishing rod and buy, I'd say, at least 12 fish.

Give me a Korg Minilogue instead, and I get to keep the family atmosphere bright and happy too :-)

+Laurence Vanhelsuwe yeah that's the best $500.00 ive ever spent. Not that the OB-6 isn't worth it but you know.

+Laurence Vanhelsuwe I also love the Minilogue. I am drawn to both of them for different reasons, but the Minilogue is no slouch.

I have had a Minilogue since release. While I do like it, it can only dream of doing the things in this video.

@Laurence Aww what a nice thing to do; come under the Ob6 videos to moan about the price. What ever helps you through the "gas" i guess.

Sooooo what are your thoughts on the 4 octave keyboard instead of 5? It's really a deal killer for me... but even so... pretty hard to resist.

+Scott Rogers the desktop is coming out. perhaps that may work for you.

+Marc Abernathy I heard. But I wonder if it will have the full front panel. It seems packed at the current size and dave usually leaves some things off when doing the modules. The full front panel is #1 to me.

+Scott Rogers like the Prophet 6 you cant split the keyboard so 49 keys is just fine...I use the octave switch creatively
@automaticgainsay8 жыл бұрын
+Scott Rogers To be honest, I don't really care about the 4-octave keyboard. I enjoy having the largest keyboard possible, of course... but in regard to composition and recording it is rare that I am playing high chords and deep bass in the same timbre. Of course, people's compositional styles vary, but I honestly don't need 5 octaves in a synthesizer. In a sampler, sure... I do have some friends who use synths in cover bands, and I know that they often need 5 octaves to reproduce synth parts played with five-octave synths... so I know that's kind of a problem.

Good demo, but i am convinced that Dave's new synths can never touch the warmth of the Prophet-5.
