I’m 2 months locd and I started with 2 strand twists. I was surprised to find that I still shed hair. I thought the shed hair would mysteriously sucked into my locs. Nope. I was surprised to find that I love my locs in the shrunken 2 strand twists. I thought this was supposed to be the ugly stage but my hair is really cute. 😊

You gave great info sis! And I always love your style! For retwisting I believe many believe it's the retwist that locs the hair. It is not. It's just maintenance. Your hair locs on its own. And there will always be loose hair at the roots because your hair is growing.

thank you for mentioning that there’s always gonna be loose hair at the roots! i’m struggling with that and it makes separating and popping my hair super difficult and i just thought my hair was not agreeing me 😭

@@officiallyfifi you're welcome. Now keep in mind that if your hair at the roots is loose and not connected to a loc, then you have hair (at least in some places) that does not grow into your loc. I have locs where there's very little loose hair because as my hair grows it just grows right in in the loc. Then there are other locs where it looks like I have a little field of hair around the loc with the loc in the middle. That means that for that hair it does not grow into the loc. Make sense? So for that you want to pay careful attention. If you do not incorporate that hair into the loc, the loc can start to thin in time. Plus that hair is always around to tangle with other locs that it doesn't belong to. Not a problem if you free-form, but if you maintain your locs then you want the hair to be with the loc you intended. So how do you incorporate the hair into the right loc when you have hair that grows away from your loc? You can twist the hair around your loc, braid it around the loc, interlock it with the loc, or crochet it into the loc. Whatever you do you want to keep a maintenance schedule. For you that may be every 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 2 months, etc. Ok I'll stop here because you didn't ask and I've included all this information that you might not want to read!🤣 I am not a professional, but I have been loc'd for 15 years. I've learned a lot on my journeys due to research and sometimes good ole fashioned learned it the hard way!

@@luvlocs06 no girl, i appreciate all this advice! i don’t know anyone who’s loc’d and so i only have people on KZbin to come to so firsthand advice from someone is really great. i’m going to a loctician next month for my birthday so i’m gonna see about her helping me with incorporating the strands that are growing around the locs bc they are really annoying and add so much time to my retwist. if you don’t mind i would love to chat with you in the future if i have more questions, do you have Instagram? no better way than learning from someone who’s been in the game for a while ❤️

Sorry! Borrowing is where you take few hairs from one of the strands in a 2 strand twist or braid, it’s usually done of the sizes of the strands aren’t equal and I assume it makes your hair a little more tangle since it makes twists/braids harder to take down... hope that clears it up 🤦🏾‍♀️😂
