Products used : "strength".🤣🤣🤣 Lovely video sis! Your locs are 🔥🔥🔥! Because I have seborrheic dermatitis I can't sit under a hot dryer unless I want major problems with my scalp. So I usually wash in the morning and air dry. Then the next day I just re-wet roots and twist. I can get away with sitting under a cool dryer this way, which is better for my scalp!
@thequalityname3 жыл бұрын
ahaha I be trynna tell y'all what it took 🤣 Thank you sis times two 🥺🥺🥺 Oh wow! If you don't mind my asking, did your dermatitis affect your decision to lock at any point? But also thank you for sharing! I already know this tip is helping the people! 💁🏽♀️
@luvlocs063 жыл бұрын
@@thequalityname no. My 1st journey lasted 12 years and I had no problems. Could use any products I wanted. I cut those locs, washed my hair, and immediately installed baby locs all in the same day. Lo and behold everything began irritating my scalp. Now I had just moved to where I currently live and stopped nursing my youngest baby. So hormones were probably all over the place. Anyway after *extensively testing products 1 at a time* I finally learned that nothing can go on my scalp. A dermatologist determined I had seborrheic dermatitis. And heat from sitting under the dryer dries and inflammes my scalp. So my routine is simple out of necessity. I shampoo, use an herbal hair rinse as my conditioner (recipe from loccrush's youtube channel). I towel dry and use avocado oil *only* on my locs. Throughout the week I will spritz my hair with distilled water. I then massage my scalp to move my natural scalp sebum around and it's enough for *MY* scalp. I then seal the water on my locs with avocado oil. In the summer I lighten up with almond oil. When I retwist I use either oil and water or Dr. Locs Locking Spray, being ever so careful not to get too much on my scalp to decrease the chance of problems. As mentioned above I usually wash and air dry one day (starting early in the morning so my hair can properly dry before I go to sleep), and then retwist the next day. This allows me to use my hooded dryer on a cool setting because I'm only drying just the roots of my hair. I sometimes use the warm setting to better set the retwist, but it's at the most only in two 5 minute bursts. This took time to figure out, but it's a simple routine that works for me. That's it that's all!

I’m 15 rn, and I’m going to be moving schools soon. I would honestly love to start my locks over the summer and start school fresh with them; however, I feel as though I’d be more accepted with my curly hair opposed to the harsh stereotypes that come with dreadlocks. I’ll be entering a majority white school and I realise that it would be hard for me to make new friends as it is - what do you think?
@thequalityname3 жыл бұрын
I think you should do what feels right for you and not be concerned with the opinions of others. People will pick and choose why they don’t like you but what’s most important is what you think of yourself. I know when I was 15 I struggled with this so there’s no need to feel pressured to understand what I’m saying but I want to make sure you know you are beautifully and wonderfully made. Who’s for you will be for you. And your opinion of self is the only one that matters 🥰

I’ve had dreads for about seven years and I do my mothers. When we started we did have to re do it every timed we washed it. We used a latch hook. Now I only have to re latch it every two or three months. At the beginning u have to a lot. It’s so annoying LMAO. Gets easier tho! And I have very fine textured hair too. So I get the struggle!

I’m 2 months in and have similar hair. I retwist every two weeks sometimes even sooner. In my first month I would have to retwist with every wash. The more your locs mature, the less often you have to retwist!
@thequalityname3 жыл бұрын
Eee how exciting! Welcome to the journey! I definitely re-twisted more often than necessary simply because I wanted to fee like I had locs and not two strand twists instead of accepting that it would take time. @@donskeybaby2619 It may help! I'm honestly not sure lol. I'm thinking about bringing a loctician/ loc specialist on the channel to answer some of the questions that I can't so we can have a more informed opinion!! LOL crocheting the roots not adding hair 🤣 Here's an instagrammer that shows how to do it! instagram.com/p/CG4zAhylU22/ I put the link in the description box for the oil 🌝
