So much enjoy your conversation - so much fun. I am German but spend many years living in the US and my oldest son lives in the US today. There were many things I missed while I lived in the US - like bread, sausages, Quark and certain cakes. But there are many things I really liked in the USA - like pumpkin, pecan and apple pie, grilled cheese sandwiches and free refills ;-) But as you were talking about spreadable sausage - do you not have Bruanschweiger in Florida - it is a kind of spreadable liver sausage - Kalbsleberwurst.

Climate change is very evident in Germany in Austria. For some reason, the warming effect is stronger than average here, which definitely affects snow and winter sports and tourism in the mountains. It's interesting that despite this effect in Europe, and the rising of the global average, there are some regions that experience a local cooling effect, particularly areas that are a long way away from the ocean, which makes those who live in such areas deny that it's happening. But in Austria and Germany it's very noticeable.
@Flareontoast
@Flareontoast 4 ай бұрын
@kathilisi3019 interesting to learn that it's less evident in other places! I'm almost 30 now and I do still remember super snowy winters, bringing a sled to the park and sledding down smalls hills, even in the city, when I was in elementary school. The past years it's mostly been around 14C on Christmas. It does snow more in the rural areas and especially the mountains but boy is our tourism slowly affected by the warming...

There used to be this great pizza place near Green Valley Ranch Casino and The Cheesecake Factory in Las Vegas/Henderson, NV. Very fun video! When I am in the US I miss licorice. The Twizzlers are only a faint remembrance of it. And of late I miss decent food. The fast food outlets are becoming more annoying. The quality really sucks. On my last trip I made it a point to visit a Chipotle for the first time. I was not impressed. Another item I miss occasionally is a good cake. Once I have a craving for Kuchen I find myself persuaded by the nice looks of what is at the bakery section. But traditional cake, as in Torte, never makes the taste test and I throw it away after some bites. Cookies are another thing which is okay.

McD’s has different market strategies. In the US they want to be cheap and consistent across 50 states, which is possible with large scales and low wages. Germany/Austria/Switzerland are all smaller markets with higher wages/cost of labor, so they can’t compete on price like in the US but they can compete on quality and novelty. I also only go to McD’s in Europe. In the US it’s trash and I am happy to pay 2x or 3x to go anywhere else.

I don't know if it is the strict food standards. I am from Asia, living in Germany and have visited US quite often. Somehow, US McDonald's is really bad. Even in Asia, where the food standards are definitely not US level, the McDonald's has much more variety and tastes better, like a restaurant level.

I didn’t get much right, except that Mike might miss the mountains. I myself don’t like Italian pizza, and that’s pretty much all you get in Germany - and there’s simply not enough stuff on it and too much dough. Pizza Margarita? It’s cardboard with tomato sauce and a bit of cheese … I do miss real American pizza, just loaded with the classic toppings: ham, mushrooms, pepperoni, lots of cheese. You’re adorable together. Bye the way, my husband and I always switch back and forth between English and German, in mid sentence.

We feel that Germany is good for like poor or middle earners but not rich, but the states is kinda of not good when you’re not poor. We pay like 1500€ MONTHLY only for the health care but we don’t get any appointments (3 months) we paid like 180k€ taxes in one year but we see that we cant’t buy a house because it’s so expensive and not event beautiful or next to the city , the cities are overcrowded they let refuges in and give them houses and everything but the rich doesn’t get anything but they have to pay. AND can you imagine that I speak German soooo good I have actively tried to make friends and I still don’t know anyone in Germany!!! My husband don’t have friends ! So my question is do you think that the states is better for people who earn more?

it is quite rare to come by.... I don't think there is anything similar to the Bavarian roads in Florida... It is also very "Americanized" roads here... I know in other states it is not the same but in Florida it is very "basic" when it comes to streets/roads.

There are some small hills in Clermont in the central part of the state, and the highest point in the entire state is in the north near Alabama. It's only 105 m high. You can live at higher altitude in an tower in Miami than at any natural height in the state.

Maybe McDonalds in Germany is better than in USA, but in the USA you have way more burger chains as we have in Germany. Why dont you eat somewhere else, they dont offer all the same. Actually there are much better burgers than McDonalds. and i dont mean BurgerKing. What about Carls Jr, Wendy, Fatburger, In n Out, Jack in the Box, Five Guys etc. pp.?

Mikes favorite fast food chain is Wendy’s. Unfortunately the Wendy’s near our home are really horrible customer service. It takes 30+ minutes to get a meal sooo we never go 😂

Jack In the Box has died in the majority of the US. In and Out is a California place. It spread to Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Utah. What's Carl Jr,'s and Fatburger? Five Guys is overrated crap and ridiculously expensive. I'll go to Cheddars to get a burger thats $2 less and it'll be 10 times better. The food is fresh ingredients made from scratch. If I want to pay the same amount t as Five Guys I'll go to Blues Burger and get Grass-fed organic meat. The lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and potatoes for French fries is also organic.

It´s so funny when you mix english and german. Das es keine richtigen Jahreszeiten in Florida gibt, ist schade. And can´t live in a Region without tiny Hills. Meine Region in Österreich wird das oststeirische Hügelland genannt. Apple Gardens and Vine Gardens everywhere. Da kommt man nach einem Ausflug nicht nüchtern nach Hause. The only Problem here: In Winter is so less Snow here. Scheiß Klimawandel. I wish you alles Gute and kommt mal wieder nach dem guten alten Europa. 😉😉😉
