Great info.. so it seems there is a lot more play room with this wheel for speed and range, I would’ve happy with a 45mph top speed and 40ml range. Thank you ✌️👊
@GingerOnWheels
@GingerOnWheels 2 жыл бұрын
It's got both of those! I'm 220lbs so if you weigh less you'll obviously hit the 40 mile mark on range. I got darn close. I've also done 44mph on this wheel. Sure, there are faster wheels, sure there are wheels with more range, but this wheel has a good mix of both and when you add the suspension into the equation it makes for a great well rounded product.

Great video Ginger ... the KS throttle back at 50% was what turned me off from buying my first wheel from KS ... chose a Gotway Nik 100v and very happy ... have ridden it below 10% and still gave me 20mph ... hopefully with the changes and feedback, KS will bounce back with this wheel ... and that 20% dead battery kinda sucks ... but a guy like me with my weight at 170lb and avg cruise speed of 25mph should get 50-60 mile range ... that would work for me ... might be my next wheel down the road. Stay safe out there everyone.

I've pre-ordered and I'm feeling nervous. I cannot afford to put this kind of money out and end up with a wheel that struggles to break 40 miles on a charge. I sure hope they send out chargers that bring the battery up to full voltage and I also hope they fix the firmware to allow the battery to go well below 20%. These 2 issues seem to be robbing this wheel of a solid 15 miles of range or more. There is no reason why a 2220 wh battery can't break 50 miles of range with reasonable riding. I have friends who are getting over 30 miles out of the 1110 wh batteries in the S18. Getting this wheel to 50 miles should not be an issue if the firmware and charger are set up correctly. If they don't fix this range issue, I cannot go through with the purchase.

Whoever opensources their firmware first will crush this market because *everyone* will want to tune their wheels and for a window of time they'll be the only ones who actually make it happen. If I could buy an S20 dev kit with a fully unlocked, hardware supported unit by signing an NDA and paying an extra 250 USD, I'd do it in a heartbeat. They might want a service contract if you're going to call them a bunch but most firmware engineers watching this (you can't *not* be out there) would be able to at least hook up debug gear and submit some nice changes to the main repos; a lot of cleanup work can be done by people who really don't have to be that great but also really want to help improve their own rides and the rides of others. If we are exposed points to attach tools to, we can discover all the flaws as a community and *help* the companies provide us with better hardware and more individual use case tailored experience. They could offer bounties for upgraded integration chunks or even improved algorithms - increase awards based on improvements to performance and safety, et al. There are a lot of great things that can happen for companies that trust the community they have started and tried to grow out to scale themselves. If you open your code up to people, then your limit is suddenly the entire planet. ;-) "given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow" - Eric S Raymond, The Cathedral and The Bazaar

@GingerOnWheels
@GingerOnWheels 2 жыл бұрын
Yes 2.19 firmware for wheel. 2.00 firmware for the bms. But in the 2 days since filming there is already bms firmware 2.02 and 2.03 😂. The initial acceleration feels about the same. It takes a lot of muscle to get it moving, rather cumbersome. The torque is available, but you really have to work to get it out. It's a fine line for heavier riders like me though because it can still be overpowered at low speed, especially on hills.

@@GingerOnWheels Starting at 124V like with other reviewers. Seems the chargers are not properly calibrated. Very curious to find out if it goes down to 3.0V per cell like other KingSongs. I always used the "custom" battery percentage calculation in EUC World. That lets you set the minimum and maximum voltage, and that's what it uses. On my S18 for instance, it goes from 84V (100%) down to 60V (0%). More linear than the default algorithm.
