Haha! I love it. I've been all of these before except number 8. (and usually not 12! Most of the time) Worst case of ten was the very last note in our Star Wars medley, a few semesters ago- it was "Duel of the Fates," and I had a huge fff chime hit on D, and as soon as I hit it, during the concert, the pipe drops off the hook and slams on the floor! I managed to string it back up just in time for the next piece, but I was so upset- my moment to shine! My time in the spotlight! All gone. Sad day.

@Gabiiscool5 жыл бұрын
I remembered this one time the teacher said we weren't allowed to mess with the percussion equipment and then he left the room to see what we would do and someone ran over to one of these and started playing loudly AF on it and when the teacher was coming back inside he was like "oh shit" and then he ran back to his seat xD

I personally resonate with some of them. Fun fact though: in our percussion section the marimba is behind the timpani and it’s my little corner of heaven during combined or sectionals. I take naps, eat food, do random shit there. Once I was taking a nap while sick, and I was the only kid there since everyone else had something on. My instructor spent like 5 minutes looking for me before he thought to look behind the timpani. Now he knows where I always hide.

Percussion: this song is so hard look at it EVERY OTHER INSTRUMENT IN THE WORLD INCLUDING RECORDER : U DONT NEED TALENT
@squiggie71834 жыл бұрын
Strongly disagree, percussionists need to have a ton of skill in note reading since our sheet music is made differently from the rest of the band, we also need to know how to play literally every instrument we decide to play since we are expected to be able to the moment we say “I’m a percussionist”. Please, TRY to learn percussion sheet music, try our instruments, try waiting countless measures for your part just for the conductor to make the rest of the band work on individual parts RIGHT before yours, THEN talk about us not needing talent.

@@OverHarmonizedThirds I've met a couple people that were asked to play vibe, but had problems playing with mallets at the same time as using the pedal. They had only played marimba, and playing with mallets had become second nature. When adding a pedal, they had trouble breaking their focus on their hands and use the pedal. Best way to describe to a fellow geometry dasher is getting used to flying a ship and then trying to upside down straighfly. Just another step they weren't use to at the time.
