On the storage screen your phone showed tens of GB of Photos data. My iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18.1 shows 62GB, yet I don't have a single photo or video stored on the phone. This is a fatal bug for me because I shoot video and need as much space as I can reasonably get. NOBODY knows how to fix this, not even Apple per the official support community. It's a disgrace. Wish someone could suggest a solution - I've searched, and nothing works.

Yes! I was able to fix it by doing a factory reset and NOT restoring from iCloud which was the source of the problem. Instead, I did the factory reset and chose to keep eSIM (of course). After restoring apps, the Photos data storage says 11 MB, no longer 62 GB. I found others who reported exactly the same bug while either copying data from another phone or restoring data from another iPhone's iCloud data. Those reports were years old, odd that Apple hasn't fixed it. I sometimes get the feeling they don't want to know when their products are misbehaving. Certainly, they will delete posts from the Apple community forums that ask when a bug will be fixed. Not great customer relations behavior. Oh well, moving on...
