More than an immigrant or refugee. The boat people had to take extreme risks being crammed on a boat, not knowing exactly where it was going for the most part, crammed in unsanitary conditions, thirsty and hungry, for months on end. If you ever have a chance to talk to someone who is willing to talk about the realities they faced or saw on their boat journey, it's worth a listen.

At such a young age he knew trauma and how lucky he was to survive. For a child to even talk about themselves as boat people tells you that, altho so young, he is very much impacted by his experience as a refugee and it has left an indelible mark on his young life, on his memory and heart, that stays w him forever. What a heart wrenching story and memory to share and reveal. Those things stick w you and you’re forever affected and changed by them. Look how mature he is and yet so full of love, positivity, hope, resilience, and enthusiasm for life after what he has been through as refugee. It shows in his performance as a child and even now more so as an adult. His humility and gratitude has only grown and he shines! Just what a thoughtful, deep, precocious child he was then and it is even more incredible to see him now as a comeback Oscar winner and star in his own right!!

Many facets, with one that's special of empathy to the kid. And there's. While seeing Willie, running in circles screaming, is another instance to be challenged away from being damsel in distress. She and Shorty becomes heroes, to save Dr Jones. From really gnarly drugs.
