Unless it overheats and burns uo or gets physically damaged somehow there's not much that can go wrong with a fused cut off with a knife switch mechanism like that especially since it doesn't have springs or anything that can really break in those. Fuses are probably one of the most simple over current protection devices and cheap and easy to service

Yes ,your right I only saw the disconnect switch single phase. my past life I was a Chief underground Tech .PSEG in N.J. for 37 years ,did conventional work (manhole underground and we also did BUD buried underground direct ) retired in 2003 . you guys be safe in the field. I saw several bad accidents by others.

Like Tony said, it was originally steel conduit which is thicker than cable guards. With battery operated cutoff saws, nothing short of titanium plate 3 inches thick is gonna stop the thieves from thievin'.😮

@@kenreid6950 wazzup Ken , when you have two different metals aka ( aluminum and copper ) you gotta use a bi-metal connector, because the aluminum cable was to big for the lugs , so i left the copper tails , and that’s why I used the bi-metal Kearneys and had to make the connections inside the box, there was no other way to do this..

Regarding the bonding of the UG metallic service riser; you are correct, the required ‘Service’ bonding is missing. Regarding having the grounded conductor cut in ‘flat’ on the ‘B’ leg of the safety switch, that is NEC legal since the ungrounded conductors ‘open’ simultaneously with the grounded conductor.

So in LA the utility is responsible for the cable all the way into the customers cabinet? Here it’s consumer owned. We will fault locate and make repairs on customer owned secondaries but if it needs to be replaced they need to hire an electrician to re place the cable and we make pole terminations. Electrician does the cabinet. Liability

@@linemanundergroundworld4854 He means that expansion and contraction of the wire can cause it to wear through the insulation. In my 45 year career as a sparky, seen it happen..but only a few times. Many other times it was finding a split bolt, nut, setscrew or lug in the pipe when pulling the wire out on demo. Should it have been fished out? Yeah, but my experience has shown that it will take years for it to cause any damage. with those conductors in a 4" (I think that's what you said) pipe it's very unlikely to be a problem.
