Thanks a lot! I made everything, and it works perfect. Just have one problem. When I'm somewhere inside, mostly in caves, the black color in Oculus Quest looks not black, but grey, like overexposed. But if I lower brightness I couldn't see at all. On PC everything looks good, no such problem.

Very good video that names the main factors that significantly influence performance. I think you're using a Meta Quest 3, do you encounter gosthing effects using this headset and SSW ? I always notice these and they are very annoying when I move my head quickly

@@michaelg.5512 yes, so ghosting happens in most demanding parts for example if you fight a dragon in Whiterun stables…it’s normal with SSW. I know it’s annoying, but for a smoother experience overall, I recommend keeping it on.

I've got the exact same settings as you yet my game doesn't look the same? It's blurry and depth of field is very apparent also. Any ideas? The only thing I didn't have in my Community shaders is an option for Ultra. Only Quality is available as the highest one.

have you checked your bitrate? I disabled the automatic bitrate adjustment in virtual desktop. Also, try using DLAA in the community shaders by pressing the END key. The menu does not appear in VR, but will appear in the game window. The ultra option was removed by the modlist creator in the recent update. but no worries, it didn't change much. Quality is the way to go.

@ thanks for the reply, appreciate you taking the time and effort. I have made sure everything is the same as yours. Bitrate is at 200, codec is HEVC 10 bit, automatic bitrate adjustment is unticked. I use DLAA and even increasing the sharpness to max on the CS menu as well as virtual desktop only makes it marginally better. It seems to be depth of field? Up close objects aren’t too bad it’s just trees and buildings etc in the distance. Like I’m wearing glasses that are dirty!

@ you are not a pain, please feel free to ask any question. I left everything as default those in the new version. Dyndolod on quality I need to test its impact on performance still. In previous versions of the modlist gave me some stuttering so since then I never increased it. Leave the fps stabiliser on.

Oh oh, when you mentioned Virtual Desktop and the lack of SteamVR I get worried now since I have a 3090, not a 4090 and I use a PCVR headset that can only use SteamVR.

@@Henk717 can’t you use open composite? 3090 should be ok though. Just reduce the quality of the CS and grass, and obviously the resolution via steam VR. I don’t know whether there is an option for SSW in steam vr but maybe is called something else.

@@AndyPacey thank you for subbing! Appreciate the support! For open composite, just make sure you select the option in MO2 and you clear the overwrite. If you have OpenXR toolkit installed it’s a good thing. In virtual desktop setting select VDXR as preferred runtime and you should be good to go!

Hi VrDad ! I just purchased a solid PC (7800x3d + 4080 super), a VR headset (Quest3) and a 15 foot long USB-C cable at 5gbs. Now. All this in order to play Skyrim VR. However, i spent the last 20 years playing on console so i find all this a bit complicated. Could you point me towards a series of video that i could watch in order to get started ? From installing Skyrim, to downloading your mod list (which is sooooo beautiful !) Also, you mention virtual desktop, is playing wireless faster than a cable ? I don't mind having a cable to my head, I just want the best experience possible but there are so many steps to get this game to this level 😮‍💨

I've recently got exactly the same setup as yourself... I followed a guide recently and was very clear and helpful to explain what everything was and also some of the differences that you can get with different approaches, this is what I used to get to the latest v3 of MGO even though it references the older version- kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnPPnXyjmMudmtk&t - beyond that I've done a number of tweaks to get the fps to what I want (don't let this scare you! Its taken me a couple of days of playing around to get to this point and it wil probably change but here it is if its of help - I set fps to 90 in meta and 1.2 resolution scale, using steamVR set to 120% resolution, also set ASW in Oculus Debug Tool to 45fps with ASW. Have set DLAA in the community shaders menu)

Thank you for the video - your last few uploads stopped my pico 4 collecting dust. Problem is - how do you enable open composite? I've so far tried: - ticking it in MO2 - coppying the dll file into the games directory - redownloading the mod Nothing works. The game now just does not launch. You click run on SKSE, and it just starts loading, and then screen flashes and thats it - no launch. Could you help out? Edit: As pointed out in the pinned comment - just clear your overwrite folder, that fixes the issue :)

What I would did is simply make sure that the open composite option is the only one activate in the VR performance section in MO2. In Virtual desktop I select VDXR as a preferred runtime and I have OpenXR toolkit installed. Other than that, I think it should work. I didn’t do anything special!

Very good and helpful video. I like your content and style of videos. -A question. How do experience the artifacts accompanying ASW? I run a Quest 2, so I don't know if there is a difference there. But I am not liking ASW. For example, when walking on stairs I get squiggly lines. Last time I ran MGO (with ENB), I ran it targeting 72 fps but lowering the settings, especially grass. I liked that a lot better. Don't remember the resolution though. Might have been the step below Ultra on VD. Maybe upscaled with VD.. using the snapdragon built in upscaler(?)

@@jooke86 when using SSW artifacts are normal. There is not much you can other than trying to increase your fps by lowering the resolution or other parameters to reduce the number of frames that the headset needs to extrapolate. I think.

This is a fantastic video and a fantastic game but I can't open the community shaders menu in-game. I tried the END key on my keyboard and it doesn't work. I even altered the key in the text file several times for it to be activated by something else but nothing I try will work. I can't find anything online that helps me and I've been looking all day. This is driving me mad as I have a powerful PC (amd 9800x3d and 7900xtx but can't get this game looking anything like as good as yours. I want to tweak those settings in the CS menu but can't get into it. Please help.

Hey VR Dad, quick question -- Is the Mad God/Skyrim VR in general compatible with DLSS3 frame gen in Skyrim? Typically, I specifically use PureDark's DLSS3 mod for regular skyrim, which works for the special edition as well as anniversary edition. Just wondering if you've tried that at all or in fact are already using it in order to get these frames on your 4090. It works fabulously on regular Skyrim for me, playing modpacks such as Elysium Remastered or Nolvus, as it doubles my FPS from ~50-60 average outdoors to 100-120 at 4k on my 4090.

Any way to make this look more like vanilla skyrim in terms of colors? This looks like a completely different biome, it's way too sunny and has a yellow orange tint. One thing that modders get wrong all the time. They turn skyrim into a tropical paradise and not the cold world it really is.

I have the best AMD graphics card 7900 xtx, and the beyond runs at something like 4000 x 4000 (100%) in steam vr. It’s a wired headset. The beyond runs at 75 FPS, but I get a constant 38 in game. I think we have very different setups friend

@@recentmanagement I see. Let me try to help you then. You can try to reduce the resolution through steam VR. If you go into "application settings" you should be able to find a slide...try to bring it down a bit (perhaps 75% of the native resolution) and see what you gain in FPS. Unfortunately In your case if you cannot use Virtual Desktop you cant use SSW. So the Resolution and Grass Density are the two main parameter that you have to play with initially. If it doesn't improve a lot I can help you further with the CS menu, but first please try these two and tell me how much fps do you get.+

I believe your big screen beyond runs native in steamvr, so no need to use open composite. For the SSW you would use the screen smoothing in steamvr settings and lock your framerate at half the resolution you're running your headset at. In theory they should get you going. I haven't run the 3.0 version of Madgods yet so no guarantees.

What's the ENB here? Didn't watch the whole video, but the colors look bad outside (or is it some kind of "orange & teal" grading goind on?). And then there's the shadowed areas which alarmingly turn almost black and start to clip details, while at the same time get the full detail back when looked at through the volumetric lighting (which is immersion breaking, because volumetric lighting doesn't behave like that, it should only push up the shadows without expanding the detail range - it's as if someone chose the wrong shader "blending mode"?). Honestly, i'd stick with Scenery ENB, looks much better to me.

For example, just outside Whiterun, the distant trees looked like a blurry mess, even on ultra settings through Virtual Desktop. The issue could be due to several factors, but I suspect the poor visuals were primarily caused by my router setup (an old TP-LINK model). Start video off with a summary of your hardware. You go into good description of why to pick various settings, but most of us without a 4090 will have different performance results.

This is a high end modlist. Expecting to have a high end-system to play it is not unreasonable and that is why I started off with setting for people with high end hardware. I talked about mid-end systems in the video as well.

@@VRDaD BUT... Your 4090 won't always be high-end. People may very well look at this video 4 years from now, including people who weren't alive when COVID was a thing. Your content is GREAT. Even this video has a nice section about mid-range systems. When your video starts, it just sounds like you're assuming everyone knows what your system specs are. Improvement opportunity.

Nah Cyberpunk is visually substantially better in VR with mods and a perfect setup. Content wise, Skyrim wins.

yes but you can play this with a 4070 quite nicely. If you go down more in GPU you can still enjoy it, but with a bit more compromises.
