I like watching these videos every once in awhile my favorite story from the guy who is doing it he lived wherever in America and he kept walking with his dog every morning up and down the beach and they would pick up these oddly shaped blackish gray objects sometimes his dog would even pick them up and then they would throw them back in the ocean and then one day sees a metal detectorist on his Beach and he asked what are you doing he said I'm looking for these and shows him what he's been throwing back in the ocean for years and he explains that they're silver doubloons would have been Caked Up with ocean debris and to be cleaned off through a process underworth so many dollars a piece great story right

Good fun mate, I've been buying scrap gold 5 days a week for the past 13 years so have got pretty good at spotting types of gold. That bracelet you found was probably hollow, the S clip made me think it was real gold straight away. Are the scrap buyers any good over there? I would assume you would get at least 90% of spot. Do you have scratch stones to test the carat?

Hi Jonny, the deal with gold here is really weird. For high karat gold like 96%, 98% and 99.9% I can get spot price, and sometimes even higher. But when it comes to 18k and lower, I am lucky to get 70% here. Yeap, got the acid test kit.

@@BeachPirate awesome mate that is not bad on the high content stuff, I have been dealing with a company in Sydney they do 102% of spot price, but then gst comes out so it's only 92% on any carat. The acid test kits are good to have, I was lucky to persuade the shop owners to invest in an Olympus Gold Expert for the last 5 or so years, the only thing you need to be careful is if stuff is silver filled like some bangles and occasional chains.

Great stuff, BP. Pretty sure that local at 2:25 was just trying to test your machine to satisfy his own curiousity. You no doubt have encountered people over the years that actually ask you, "Does that thing actually work?"....or, when you're actually in the water, "is that thing really waterproof?"....as if you'd A) be stupid enough to carry out an activity that was pointless, for some unknown goal, or B) you'd knowingly take an expensive piece of electronics into water, not being sure of it's "waterproof-ness" (P.S. - I promise, no cracks about all the incidents I've heard of Nox 6/800s with flooded control boxes!!). Well, plenty of people just don't think before they speak, so.... And I'm sure the whole thing seems like magic to some people. It's actually great for us that so many people have this stereotypical idea in their head that it's a useless hobby for old guys to waste time on the beach, although that is clearly diminishing over time, as more people of all ages, both male and female, have gotten involved in the hobby. Great hunt, and I'm glad the bracelet turned out to be gold! It REALLY did look to good to be true, didn't it? Since the video thumbnail already clued me in it was real, I assumed it must be min. 22K when I saw how yellow/orange it was...killer find. Some of the Vietnamese coins must be a least part ferrous, given how the encrustation appeaars to not just be sand, but a lot of iron. It might be worth smacking them a bit with a hammer against a flat surface to de-crust them a bit before tumbling. I recently cashed in about $60USD in tumbled coins. BTW, while that earring may indeed be a fresh drop, there's also the possibility that it had been there a while, and is rhodium plated silver. You may already be familiar with that, but if not, they'll rhodium plate some sterling jewelry to help prevent tarnishing. I wouldn't be surprised if it contained a real diamond. That cut looks great....hope the next hunt was even better. P.S. Even though you mentioned he was bad about leaving his holes unfilled, I was glad to see a true local hunter. I'm always concerned that someone in your situation, i.e., a foreigner, will face discrimination, as some people no doubt unfairly/ignorantly view you partaking in the hobby, as some well-to-do foreigner, "stealing" from the less fortunate locals. I've actually been in that situation, and was confronted by some muscle-bound jackass, actually accusing me of stealing. If he only knew how many times I've help people recover stuff, and at no charge.......

22k to 24K or 999.9 would usually have an "S" hook lock to it since its too soft. This lock is a good indicator thats its real and of high karat.

Thanks mate, I prefer using the 11inch in conditions like this video. On quieter days, I prefer the 15inch to cover more ground and hunt down those patches. I have never tried the Coiltek, but heard good things about them.
