1200 HP TWIN TURBO Shelby GT500 Review! Is 1200HP Even Usable?

The 2021 Shelby GT500 is already an obnoxiously fast car. With 760HP from the factory and a surprising amount of downforce, it is a track monster ready to go from the showroom floor. However when you remove the supercharger and replace it with two fast spooling turbos - things get really interesting. With a completely mechanically stock car - this makes 1200HP to the wheels with it's hidden twin turbo kit underneath the car. With it's DCT transmission this thing rips anytime and anywhere. Huge thanks to Mustang Lifestyle for the opportunity to drive this incredible car. The GT500 has an incredible legacy, and I'm glad to say this Shelby with twin turbos does not disappoint.

Great gearing with a modern trans and a tune to keep everything in check makes most newer 1000+hp cars easily streetable. Keeps the power low when you don't need it and allows it to come alive as soon as you do.

Twin turbos on this Generation of GT500s with the DCT is a match made in heaven !!.. Palm Beach Dyno (same shop that worked on this car) had a blue one putting down 1500whp but it crashed in Houston for TX2K23

BMW's ZF8's are really good autos. Manuals are fun, but paddle shifting a good auto/dct is just faster at the end of the day.

@@iNegroTv Went from a B8 S4 DSG and tried the ZF in the B9 S4 and ruined the car power delivery for me, the loss in torque is still noticeable even if the shifts are crisper. Still DCT>Manual>Auto for me

my stomach muscles are killing me from just watching this I can't imagine what it must have been like for you driving it on a serious note i was waiting for you to enter a time warp and sling shot forward. I've never felt such an intense reaction like that before from a video. Now say if everything 100 percent was the same except metaphorical manual gearbox would it be possible to be in control as you had that? I wont lie i wasnt expecting it to hold so steady. More that I'm thinking the paddle shift is actually pretty gnarly screw the manual thought this car is perfect 11/10 I felt like I just road shotgun thank you for the adrenaline rush all the way over here in Illinois 👽😬🙌🏻🛸💯🐎

The best part about this upgrade as said here n this video is.. Its kind f easy for Ford DOHC 32v motors to make 700 -800 whp with 2 turbos and not much 2 be done on it other than some supporting mods. Boosting is 1 huge advantage Ford dohc engines ve over OHVs of GM and Dodge

I know a lot of people aren't going to agree with this but at a certain point when you get into big power for me a manual gearbox just ain't fun nor practical anymore id prefer auto after around 750-850hp

Agreed. Manual is more fun but has its limits. At a point it requires more engagement than you can keep up with. That being said I'd rather have a 500 horsepower manual than a 1000 horsepower auto. Anything more for either is just insanely too much

crazy is a stock cftp can get around a track like modern mid engine exotics like literally faster or within a second of cars like Ferrari f8 tributo Lamborghini huracan evo and porsche gt3rs around a tight track. A more open track stretch them legs. But its like an american Ferrari f12 but the money you save you can twin turbo this but a truck and trailer and build a 7 second s550 mustang gt. I know why ppl buy exotics. But the gt500 is probably the most exotic muscle car and it can handle. c8s i really dont consider muscle and stock top trim c8 stingray is 5 secs behind a stock gt500 of same cost around a track. 185k c8 zo6 vs 80k base gt500 the gt500 starts to freight train a z06 at 100+mph which thats mind blowing that a brick compared to a c8 and gt500 starts to pull away as hard as it does

Probably not. Twin charging is super hard and not really worth it in most cases. It's definitely cool but not worth the cost and complexity.

If the 2020+ S550 GT500 had TCM access, it would actually be fast at 1200HP. Unfortunately since you can't tune the transmission, its always going to lag behind a boosted GT

Not sure what you mean. Anything even close to 1200HP is fast as shit, especially for a street car that's insane power. Thing shifts basically instantly as it is. Only a built 6R80 GT could compete.
