Hi! We met on the PCT in 2022-I'm not sure if you remember me (no worries if you don't). While looking up long-distance trails in Europe, I stumbled upon your channel. I was momentarily puzzled by why your face and voice seemed so familiar, then I realized we met on the PCT, possibly in Oregon or Northern California. My trail name is Deadlift, and I'm from Finland. I'm curious to know what you would do differently to save costs on a long-distance hike. In your video, you mentioned that if you did the hike again, you could save more money. I'd love to avoid ending up in the same amount of debt as after hiking the PCT! Thanks in advance. ☺

@@KatskiHikes hey deadlift, yes i remember you. Your the weight lifter 🏋️‍♂️ 💪. So if i did it again to save more money i wouldnt buy things at huts or restaurants like beer. I spent alot of money on that. U will also save more money since your local. Flights will be cheaper for you.

I am looking forward to your video about wild camping as I thought it was illegal (on public land?) in Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein; only allowed above 2500 m in Italy; not allowed in the woods in Germany, etc. Plus there are also local restrictions and preserved area restrictions. How enforced is it? I respected those rules on my Tour du Mont Blanc, but I seemed to be the only one! Never saw a ranger. If I understood correctly, the penalty in Slovenia is mild (100-200 euros) but it's super high in Austria (tens of thousands of euros, plus possible jail time!). Kind of out of proportion with the impacts of ski slopes, roads, etc.

And most of the time you paid with cash or credit card?

It was split about 50/50. In towns i used credit cards in the huts most accept cash only.
