Probably when marching having more than one snare and bass drum would be beneficial. When marching there is a lot extra crowd noise to contend with and the KT musicians might have a hard time hearing that beat. I think KT and the sunshine band have this all worked out.

The new lead drummer is strong and the quad drummer I assume is a first grader showed strength a potential in the playing of sing sing sing. Her nervousness will give way to confidence in a month or two.

The new quad drummer is a second grader. Last year she carried a bass drum in parades and on stage performances, she played everything except drums. But interestingly, in some recent stage performance videos from the past week, the quad drummer actually took over the role as the lead jazz drummer and she really hit those drums hard and loud. Very impressive.

Let's go KT 2024, they are already good, but they need to sharpened it all, because they had just left alone by their senior, this is just the beginning of parade, they will make it better into perfection❤🥰, hope percussion section can dance like their predecessor especially when playing sing3x, like in this video :kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3-7ZWaNfLaWpqM, watch starting from 2.54, my fav dance, at that time the percussion team so lifely, so fun, energetic, full of smile, etc, all of all, KT Band always the best in any parts, sugoi👍👏

@@LL-ii1dc Well, thanks for info. One of the reasons I'm kind of hooked KT and the sunshine band is because I was a musician in high school and a and as an adult. You seem to have some KT insight. Percussion in a marching band is real important. Also interesting that in this video there was another student playing a second snare, and I believe the young man with the cymbals also plays drums Any comment on this? Once again thanks for the insights.😎

@@Prescott-w2u The second snare drummer that could be seen during the marching parade in this event but not in this video is a first-year student that joined the band only a month ago. In Japan the new school year starts in April. The young man with the cymbals is a second year student and like the new quad drummer, he played the bass drum in parades last year and only non-drum percussion instruments on stage. In this video only the second and third year students performed since the first-year students are not quite ready yet and they were all watching on the side. Playing instruments and dancing at the same time is a specialty unique to KT and rare on other schools and many of the first year students have never done it before. There is a big learning curve before they can keep up. But in another month or so by early summer they should all be totally integrated as the band trains hard and often.

@@LL-ii1dc For a brief period I played percussion in a marching band. You are correct, big learning curve and a lot of work for everyone, especialy the new members. When looking at past KT videos you know they have big musical shoes to fill. The very young members sitting to the side are I'm sure waiting with much anticipation for their turn to perform in all KT's performances. All KT members are teenagers with hard work and exciting times ahead of them. As an old grey beard musician I will be watching how the KT sunshine band will most assuredly progress through out the Year. Once again thanks for the info.

The first year students should all be proficient in playing an instrument already but dancing at the same time is a different story. The whole band should be in unison by September as they shoot for their fourth straight all Japan marching gold medal. For many years now I love watching and following everyone’s progress from first year to graduation. These students bring so much joy to the fans everywhere. 🍊🍊🍊
