What should I focus on in then specifically in the trade because I’m barely about to step foot in the door of going the the application process of even just becoming an electrical apprentice. Thanks
@stanley40063 жыл бұрын
@@Jonahflores2800 will you be going into the IBEW, Or non union ? I worked for a non union shop for almost 24 years and can tell you there are pros and cons to both. I was never laid off in the 24 years but the pay wasn’t as much as IBEW, in the last few years working there I was making $100k so you can still make $$. But depending on where you are at if the union doesn’t have a lot of work and you are off more then you work then non union is the way to go. More steady work. If you go non union try and find a company that will put you though a apprenticeship program. I recently took my Philadelphia and Allentown Pa masters tests and passed both, and now hold 3 masters licenses. For the exams you need to know basic math and here in Pa you can right in the code book so I put the basic formulas in the back. Its a great trade to be in and love what I do. I can give you all kinds of tips to be successful.

@stanley40063 жыл бұрын
@@Jonahflores2800 for the Union I think you will need to take a exam prior to getting in. Most likely the math on this video is probably a part that’s on it. As far as work that all depends on how much work is in the area and how many people are in the local, that have the seniority on you. Another route to look at is the testing field. That’s what I currently do since I left construction. It’s a great field and you can make a lot more then on the construction side. I do a lot of work in substations now, testing transformers, medium and high voltage breakers, cables and other equipment. I know a few guys that have been in the testing field now for years and make over $200k a year. You want to look for a company that is A NETA accredited. LOTS of overtime and work all over the country. My employer right now has 800+ employees and do work everywhere including overseas. There are 4 levels of NETA technicians. NETA 1 is entry level. NETA 2, 3 and 4. If you become a 3 or 4 you will always have work and unlimited opportunities to make a lot of money. Google SF6 breaker, it’s amazing what’s out there and so much to learn.

Canadians have way harder requirements and schooling to complete for their trades this is simple math my 1st year electrical theory at the college involves ohms law, watts law calculating resistance, voltages, Horse power understanding the flow of circuits and how atoms and neutrons move in an electrical circuit I can’t believe your guys aptitude test is 5 simple math questions our electricians basically have to learn the beginnings of electrical engineering

How did you do on the test? I take it Thursday, pretty nervous considering I'm pretty bad at math lol.
@krmcgavock235 жыл бұрын
MBeezey I would definitely keep working on problems like 2 & 4. Especially 4 because it’s a lot of those. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be but of course everyone’s skill level is different. I would beef up on those graphs too. The reading part for me was extra easy😂 . It’s a little bit of factoring problems that may use the function f(x). Focus on these more and follow algebra 2 concepts and you should be good👍Dont spend too much time on 1 problem because the time flies! Do all the ones you know you can do first and go back to those other problems that you got stuck on

How you get 9x-30 on problem 2
@topsaw3 жыл бұрын
The 3 out in front has to be multiplied by every term on the parenthesis. The 3x times 3 gives you the 9x and the -10 times 3 gives you the -30. Hope that helps

I was doing all of this studying before during summer, never actually needing to take the test before the interview, As a lineman, how often do you actually need to do all of this algebra? I hate random variables and learning to do stuff like this if I don’t understand real life examples and when it’s used. I feel most math is figured out in a more common sense way in your head but add meaningless letters with numbers with no reasoning to where they came from, and you lose me.

the first answer is right but I could have sworn that PEMDAS is orders of operations meaning that after exponents it's a left to right process. If division comes before multiplication then you divide first and the same with addition and subtraction. So multiplication don't always come before division and addition don't always come before subtraction.
@topsaw2 жыл бұрын
Yes, left to right within the operations

For the second question I was told you have to simplify making the answer actually b is that true ?
@topsaw5 жыл бұрын
No, it is equal to y, so if divided both sides by 3 you would have y/3. If the whole thing was equal to zero, than you could factor out a 3, divide both sides by 3 and have 3/0 which is still zero.
