What do you mean by railroad?

Railroad means that when using 2 threads for the bottom and top leg of the X you use your needle to divide each thread before you go through the hole. It helps the to make the stitches lay flat by laying each of the threads next to each other. It also gives you better coverage.

I’ve always just used my needle to tuck my tails in. I didn’t know there was a fancy tool for it.
