I know.. too late but I would recommend a lower aquascape. Say you need to do a 10-20% water change. Add on 4 inches say of coral growth. How many corals will be out of the water? Some corals are fine out of water for a short time, some will get stressed. Plan for growth, especially of branching corals.

Turn the lights long way front to back. Run the lights at 50%Blue and 5% white. That will help with the issues that you are having with the lights.

Scape looks good, might find that stuff collects in the back. I run the black box lights but my lid is open on top.

First time watching, like the new scape. I’m jealous of the length of your tank. I got a 150 that’s 4 by 3 by 19”. I would get the rock off the back tho

I suggest saving a little money and upgrading the lights or all those nice corals aren’t gonna grow much

Are you going to do a update?
@colinmalcolm24224 жыл бұрын
I had bristle worms in my tank a few years ago and some of those buggers were 6" long and properly creepy. Also painful when you try and pull them out and all they do is stick their bristles in your fingers. Yikes !

I think the rock structure looks cool. Maybe get it off the back wall a bit so you can get some flow back there to reduce detritus build up. For flatworms you can also get a erase to help control them. Melanarus is a good one from what I hear. For lights you might consider t5s. BRS has a retrofit kit for pretty cheap. The t5s will fill in the gaps in lighting to help even out the spotlight effect. I'm using a 24" for my new build but they have different sizes available. It would be cheaper than putting all new lighting up there. Loved the timelapse! Scolys are definitely on my wishlist for corals! Great video

Looking to start my own reef tank. I know that this is an aqueon fish tank. Did you drill into this tank for the plumbing???? I know that it’s tempered glass
@BottomlandOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
It comes drilled with the overflows installed

IMO the rock scape looks too crowded now. it was perfect before! I'm thinking a few years down the line when the SPS grow in you wont have any more room at the top.
@BottomlandOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Daniel St-Jean yeah I was trying to add some more rock torwards the back of the tank to create depth front to back. They are a little high now though

Do you not dip your corals before putting them in your main display?you should have a little quarantine tank and dip them and keep them in there for a few weeks before adding to your main display imo
@BottomlandOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Cook I dip and add them to main display.. Is it necessary to have a fish qt, a coral qt, and a main tank?? That’s just a lot of tanks and gear to deal with 😅
@SaltFishTV4 жыл бұрын
Justin Fortune You can actually quarantine everything in just one qt tank. No need to separate them 😀

Daniel St-Jean Well, if you want to do a treatment then do so in another tank. QT for me is a tank to watch things to see if parasites develope. Just my process, but everyone is different 👍🏻
