So, the alerts happen when citizen weather fans report the events to whoever they're contracted with. I work only with amateur meteorologists but both in the US and Canada, a citizen on the ground has to report the tornado before the alert can be issued, and there needs to be more of us. That's the real solution is more team work♡

It’s not just the timing of the alerts…it’s the areas that are targeted as well along with the content. I’m in Manitoba, and there was a tornado warning issued for a region here yesterday. My wife received the alert, and the area affected was “the mobile coverage area”. I didn’t receive it though. We were both in the same room when the alert was issued. I had to dig around a bit, but I found the area that was affected, and while it is relatively close, it was still more than far enough away for us to be considered on the fringe. There wasn’t even an active weather alert present in our area. In fact, the weather was fairly uneventful. I’m not sure how exactly they target specific mobile coverage areas…but it seems logical that the information in the alert should also list the areas affected so that the recipient can make the proper decisions. I have seen far too many “false” emergency alerts, in the sense that they are received in the wrong areas for whatever reason. It doesn’t make sense to receive an emergency warning that requires the recipient to turn to google to see if it actually applies to them. Put that information in the alert so that recipients know whether it applies to them or not. Much like the amber alert that was issued for Toronto a few years back that was targeted nationally in error. The alert luckily had the affected areas listed, so most knew it was received in error. Had the alert simply listed the area as “the mobile coverage area” it would have been a lot worse. Do that too many times…and people simply stop paying attention to the alerts.

@@asp4488 why do you think houses in countries like south east asia uses bricks and stones? Because they offer better protection from the hundreds of roaring typhoons and hurricanes that come from the pacific ocean. Your roof and windows may be gone, but 70% of your house will still be standing and not simply flattened.
@asp4488
@asp4488 Жыл бұрын
@@ajcyrilldy Well I have seen only roof flying here in Barrhaven. No houses have flattened :) And you are correct and incorrect, the house in Asia are made of brick or stones in first place because : 1-It's very hot and humid, and wood being a conductor of heat, would not remain as cool as a concrete/brick house. 2- In high humidity, insects are abundant and can cause serious damage to wood. 3-Again because of humidity, wood would rot and sometimes warp (change shape).
