its the lock that powers the fob, have you tried changing the batteries in the lock or removing any covering around the fob ?

its though, a move to a HF card type ( desfire EV2 or 3 for preference) and actually request data from the card ( not just the card ID) will be about as good as you can get for the moment

iris scan on the doorways. this is what data centers use. you get scanned and programmed into the system, so you present your HF card key, then it scans your iris to enable entry.
