That was one of the main issues with most guides IMO! While it’s kinda true, the problem with that is the default display selection. If you SSH into the device, you can fix the display setting and it’ll start working. I find it so much easier to change the default config and do it right from the beginning. Glad it worked out for you :)

Thank you. Fixed my issue with the v3 screen. Very easy. Anyone struggling, try using the Raspberry pi imager instead of etcher. Let it verify. Make sure microUSB is decent, the crappy ones dont work. Be patient on first boot. Make sure you get the right version for your hardware (32-bit vs 64-bit). You will see 7 green blinks on your Raspberry pi if the image is the issue.

Hey I was wondering if you could help me with your guide? I am using a Pi Sugar3, Pi Zero 2w, and a Waveshare v4. Is there anything I need to change in the config file? I turned it on and it flashed the green lights then a blue light has been on, but other than that nothing has appeared on the screen. I have left it on for a while now.

There isn’t anything you should need to change in the config. I would re-image the SD, make sure you add the config file before ever booting with the SD card

Im planning on making this. For the whitelist how exactly do i specify my network? Like do i write my ssd in place of where it says "my network" and do i keep the ""?

How did everyone create the new user on the pi? Pwnagotchi is running on my Pi2W but after about 15 minutes I get the pi wizard and my keyboard will not work. Is it okay to create the user and enable SSH using RP imager?

You just use username: rpi password: raspberry Shouldn’t need to do any custom os settings as that’s all baked into the image and config.toml file I provided :)

@@Hedge-Tech-95 I get the same message Please note that SSH may not work until a valid user has been set up. I used rpi as username and raspberry as pw. I am on a windows 11 machine and tried putty as well as powershell. I reimaged SD card via RPI and balenaEtcher on two different RPI 2 W. I can switch my HDMI input on my monitor and the pi has the blue config new user screen. So strange.

I still don’t know how it works without any “buttons” (like the flipper zero)..? Is it ALL fully automated with AI ? And also if I leave it on 24h/7 is it good? Will it overheat? Thx for a reply

Yes, it’s fully automated, but you can SSH into it and use bettercap yourself if you want to manually control it. But usually you’ll leave it in auto and let the AI run bettercap. As for the heat, I’ve run mine 8+ hours with no issues. I’ve topped out at 45C with the zero 2 and less than that on a zero 1. There’s a memtemp plugin you can enable to show temps on the display if it’s a concern for you!

this is so frustrating I've tried everything I've looked through so many tutorials yours was the easiest to understand but nothing works, i can do everything but when i plug it in and leave it to boot up, nothing happens I've left it for 30 minuets and nothing happens other than the green light turns on. I've got a waveshare v4, and pi zero 2 w. i don't know what I'm doing wrong

Green light coming on and staying on is a good sign. Right after imaging the SD card, you’re adding the config.toml to the SD card before you boot the Pwnagotchi the first time right? That’s how the setting to enable the waveshare display is set. Without doing that, the pwnagotchi would act like you’re saying, just staying blank.

Yeah dude. straight forward.. plus I like your "back 2 basics/ Go with what works" approach.... instead of going with the P0W2 which has no headers and seems to be the bain of manies existences.. you went with the already headerred Pi version-- obviously we all want th elatest greatest, but what is the point of havi' one of these if it doesn't work/ worse, you are ripping out tooth, nail, every remaining hair having to trouble shoot any and pretty much every next step of the way- living a hermit live, dwelling in the depths of reddit and which ever resource that contains 'git' in the URL.

For me, I have no issues with the initial stages ...it is attempting to connect to it down the road that I struggle with... I can see i t on the network - it's there...but, no luck accessing the files togo through customizations and adding things like GPS ... i can't access the TOML file to go through an make the nescessary changes for the lil 'gatchi to gotch. And my head spins as to which TOML file to use in the first place... any help in that regard would be a fantastic video- surelly helping out many in the same situation.

Hey! So if I’m understanding right you have two issues, having trouble connecting/SSHing into the Pwnagotchi to change the config file, and unsure what changes to to the TOML to get GPS to work. I have another video on my channel “How to add custom faces” or something close to that. The first few minutes are going over how to SSH/connect to the pwnagotchi. You need a driver, a certain IP assigned to you PC. But check out that video and I bet you get connected. GPS is a little trickier and honestly I haven’t done it. But I would leave the toml you have and just add the portions you need to get GPS to work. Don’t overwrite the whole thing. But first things first, see if you can get connected to the device :)

Bruh can u lend me a hand. I'm using a rpi4 what exact file do I use. Also do I unzip it or will etcher handle that. Also what if any changes do I make to the configuration file. Also do I delete the configuration file that is already there?

I think the RPI 4 is 64bit, so try using that image. There’s no unzipping, just point etcher to the file just like I did in the video. As for the config, use the one I link to. By default after etching there is no config.toml file. So there shouldn’t even be an existing one to overwrite. No additional configuration should be needed unless you wanna change the name but in your case, I would leave as is just to check if it works. Now I haven’t set up Pwnagotchi on an RPI 4 before and it’s a little out of scope for this video since I go over RPI zeros, but what I said above are the things I would try :)

@@Hedge-Tech-95 I initially tried the x64 version. Did ur config. And I got no display seemed like it didn't work. Also I meant there is a configuration file already there but not .toml. I will try again and also try the x32 version

This was mainly a guide to get the software side going. You can add a pi sugar battery or something else if you choose!
