Hi Dan, great video. I had a break pod leak air so bad the compressor couldn't keep up, I made it to a rest park and there I sat. A nice veteran driver came by and told me "take the airline off and put a dime in the fitting and re-connect. then back off the break and get to a shop."" Will never forget that guy.

Put the dine where in the airline? The glad-hand? Where it attaches to the brake chamber?

Dan that shows your experience being able to detect that leak while in the cab. I am happy for you the cost was not to much thanks for the video.

Yeah that price was better that i thought it was gonna be...phew! Especially for a $35.00 brake chamber. Keep that tool that comes with the new chamber Dan. That way you can block off the line with a dime or fold it and clamp it with a pair of vice grips and zip tie it to another line securely and then use that tool to back off that Chambers air flow. Sorry i didn't know about the dime...lol...but the vice grips worked and i made my delivery and then got my repair. Glad your back up'n rolling👍

I keep a pancake gasket in the truck at all times. Never know when you have to change one out. I know these days most just change out the chamber. But that pancake can and has saved my tail.

Changing the brakes pots was one of the first jobs I did when I started work as an apprentice mechanic back in 1972. Easy job really was long as you drain all the air, even 5 psi can make them into short range missiles. The other thing after you put it on is to check the slack adjuster so you don't have a grabbing brake, damn hard on the tires. Thanks for the video.

If it would have broken in Atlanta you could have swung it by my place and user my tools to fix it up. If your ever in Atlanta and need something hit me up. If I'm out on the road I have a lot of connections especially on the south side of Atlanta and Macon area.

Seems to me, back in the day (1970s-1980s) brake pots had a shaft and bolt coming out the 'back'. By tightening down on the bolt you kept the brake from functioning; I wonder if that would have worked to stop the air leak. Perhaps this was just on trailer brakes?! Of course you are then short one brake and will not pass a vehicle inspection. Truckin', great job keeping her rolling!

You ever stop to think they exist so your company or your self, if an owner/op, don't get run into the fucking dirt. It's also so you don't fall asleep at the wheel because you want to be a super trucker and run 2000 miles high on meth and plow into a four wheeler. The regs don't exist to screw over your pay check.
