Lots of alternatives to resin out there - but what can you colour them with? I have good and somewhat surprising news for you! Colouring Eco Pour, Aquacast, Resincrete and all the other powder + water alternatives out there might not be as costly as you think
** Sorry I lost the unmoulding of the chameleon film clip but it was a deeply disappointing plain pale blue **

Pigment paste is mixed with epoxy resin (some use part A, others use part B), and we all know epoxy resin doesn't play well with water or oil products. Great tutorial experiment.

Ive used alcho ink, mica, nail varnish, chalk, pigment paste and fluid, oil and acrylic and wood stain! I found if you mixed with the water and add it to the powder especially the pigment paste and fluid worked better, but still gave the stone look, which i liked on the bath 😊

Nice experiment! I think the resin paste is a fail bc it’s the pigment mixed with the part A of epoxy resin. Seem the pigment would have absorbed the resin (part A) and thus it becomes not water soluble. I remember a while back seeing several videos of Part A being used to make pastes.. I now make my own pastes when I have excess of part A left at the end in the bottles instead of throwing it away. We can make special color mixes (like interference red with purple micas..or any combo imaginable) I have loads of different special colors we can’t buy on the market. Anyway I love your experiment today!!! I don’t work with this medium or jesmonite but it’s always interesting to see & there’s usually a take away for the medium I’m using. Have a lovely day❤❤ see you in the next 🌹

This was SO helpful! Thank you for taking the time to do this and share your ideas. It is great to know about acrylic paint, food colouring, and alcohol inks. They look lovely. I received my Aqua cast yesterday, and I'm looking forward to trying out some new colours. The pigments i bought specifically for eco resin were very drab and disappointing. Now, i can use up a load of paints and inks. Your tutorial was much appreciated x ❤

Pigment pastes are oil based so they can mix into resin. Unfortunately as Eco Resin is water based it’s will be incompatible, so won’t incorporate in. Acrylic / water based or powdered pigments should all work to some degree
