1275 Head on a 998 The Final.

This video is the final part in the series of putting a 1275 head on my 998 mini.
Its been great fun to do and has really woken the little 998 engine up.
I'm so pleased with how it has turned out.

Yeah it's huge. I also have a cam and new carb a dizzy. Using an app that measures 0-60 it's gone from 18 seconds down to 14.8. I'd like to think it'll be better if I can get it rolling road tuned at some point

Hi Adam great job mate , I am looking to do the same myself 2 questions first had you considered fitting a 1275 cam would that of gave any more power and second did you work out your CR would it of lowerd it could that of robbed some power possibly ?

The cam I have/had fitted is a minispares evo001 cam. I believe its similar in spec to an mg metro but with a bit more lift. I think the combustion chamber in the 12g940 was was a fair bit less than that in the 998 head, although I didn't actually work it out i think it was slightly higher. At the very least no less

I was very happy with it, but I always to play around with it. 1275 engines are just too expensive for me. So I'm currently coming to the end of fitting a 1.6 vauxhall engine.

Hi Jim. I'm not really sure to be honest. I did put a rev counter in but it wasn't a very good one and I'm not sure it told the truth. I think around 6000 to 6500 at a guess.

HI Sam. I paid £80 forthe cylinder head at Castle Combe mini action day in 2019 then about £15 for the BK450 head gasket and probably another 10 or so in other gaskets. I fitted double valve springs that were about £35 thats about all i can think of. In terms of tools i didnt have to buy anything new i just used what i already had

Yeah never actually took it to a dyno but zero to 60mph was around mid 14seconds timed with a gps app. Much improved over a standard 998

I think they are group 5 Huddersfield mini spares arches. I bought them quite a long time ago
