I'll never understand the 707 hate. They sound incredible, all these groove boxes have their positive and negatives but that's what gives them charm. Very nice man

I really enjoy the unit. I feel you really need a keyboard for the synth section. Definitely limitations and stuff but like you stated. That’s part of gear.

I agree 100%. I personally play with its little brother the MV1 and I love it. The MC/MV range has the same synthesis engine as the other high-end Rolands. Hence the quality and diversity of sound. In addition, the MC/MV sampler is not bad at all and ridicules super popular products like the TE EP 133 😁

Its mainly the Elektron crowd, analog purists, or people that think Roland sounds boring. I love my 707 though. I had the MC 505 before and it started having problems so I upgraded. Even better. I've been really tempted to get the TR8s to accompany it.

The updates released and lack of being discontinued by now show that the 707 has been selling, meaning it is a hit. The haters are an insignificant minority.😂

Love the MC707! The ability to use the synth inside as well the ability change to midi instruments in the same channel. This thing is a powerhouse!

I agree. I add keys for the synth section and the machine really comes alive.

I love my 707, and haven't even fully explored all its nooks and crannies in the years I've owned it. I recently got an MV-1, and the 2 together are like the ultimate power. 15 tracks plus a dedicated vocal track. I can do my core synth and bass parts on the MV-1 as controller and then add synth layers from the 707, sample in guitar parts on the 707, and add vocals on the MV-1. I find the workflow to my liking and tend to make music with my ears on them more than on devices that are more screen based.

I have both the 707 and 101. I love them but don’t use them as much as I would like. They are very powerful and the synths sound amazing.

I use my 707 as a performance mixer and it excels beyond my wildest dreams. Great ideas in this video, I only dedicate all 16 clips on one track to sending program changes to my video synth. I have some many other possibilities to explore

Roland is such a great company in the first place. Totally comes down to how deep the rabbit hole can go before you max out the memory.

Overall voice at once from synth engine and sample time are by far the largest restriction per song. I tend to keep things “simple but effective” if I’m playing to push anything close to 8 tracks at one time internal with the synth engine.

Okay, I’ve been wanting a 707 awhile, resisting the urge to buy. Resistance is futile! Now I really want one.

The machine looks and sounds great, 8 or 128 tracks is not even the point, it is just worth the price right?

Scenes have actually nothing to do with the rows. Scenes on the mc707 are a different thing. There are more than 16 scenes. There are 16 rows of clips.
@toddsmithmusic31722 ай бұрын
Clips are tied to scenes in the manner that’s how you launch them. I understand what you’re saying and hope you have a good weekend
@philyoung54342 ай бұрын
I think you're conflating Tracks with Clips. There are only 8 Tracks but each can hold 16 Clips. Scenes are collections of selected Clips that you want played, for easy recall. The title should be '128 Clips on Roland MC-707'. You can only have a maximum of 8 different Clips playing at once across 8 different Tracks. Saying there are 128 Tracks makes it sound as if you could have 16 separate Drum Tracks; 6 Tracks dedicated to layered Bass sounds; 20 tracks worth of pads etc. That's not the case.
@toddsmithmusic31722 ай бұрын
I fully understand the difference and I explain how it works in the video. Have a great day
@philyoung54342 ай бұрын
@@toddsmithmusic3172 For starters within the first few minutes you refer to each Clip slot as Scene, which is incorrect. Each slot is a known as a Clip - as the manual states. Scenes are collections of Clips grouped together for instant triggering of multiple Clips. Also you can’t have different Master FX per Clip. Master FX are applied to the entire mix, hence the name Master. Each clip can have it’s own FX but you can’t have 128 different master fx; how would that work with more than one Clip playing? All you’ve shown is different clips can have different sounds.
@RadNabb2 ай бұрын
'I think you're conflating Tracks with Clips.' There is definitely some mismatch throughout, making it hard to understand. I can't figure out what he's doing and I've got the 707 in front of me. edit - OK, got it! I'm grateful for the demo but it wasn't clear at all. All I needed to know was that switching track source to clip allows you to set a different sound for each clip. Very cool
@toddsmithmusic31722 ай бұрын
@@RadNabb It’s explained pretty well in the video. Just enter “clip” mode in the track settings. That’s all you need to do. You’ll need to do this for each track you want to expand to clip mode. This will turn each clip/scene into a possible different sound kit
@philyoung54342 ай бұрын
@@RadNabb A neat little trick using the Next Clip feature is that you can bounce between two clips. This is great for little incident sounds that you can sprinkle over a production, eg, drops, impacts, fx etc. They could even be 2 x 8 step clips that go back and forth while a longer 128 step section plays out.
