You are absolutely correct. This is more a launch control kinda thing, where your rev limiter lets you build boost and let go when the turbo spools. Additional info: Anti lag is what makes all the bangs when a rally car is off throttle in the stages
@FullThrottleCC11 жыл бұрын
It's Motec Anti Lag, Anti lag delays the ignition timing so it excretes more exhaust pressure and some gas ends up combusting in the exhaust manifold through the turbo and High Speed hot exhaust with fire = what you just saw

2-step is not anti-lag. Anti-lag backfires when you let off the throttle to keep your turbo spooled during shifts.
@ScrewUserNames658710 жыл бұрын
I dont know that thats quite right. 2-step I a broad term, and some 2-steps may be different, there are two steps that use the same systems as anti-lag but are considered 2-step and not anti-lag, to be brief I think any system made for building boost on launch should fall under 2-step since its what 2-step purpose serves, while anti lag was created with keeping turbo boost while letting off the throttle for immediate power in wrc. So as confusing as it may seem I believe that a launch system should still fall under 2-step or even launch control even if its using an anti-lag system to do it. Turbo lag isnt the inability to make boost(spool) its when letting off the gas unspools the turbo. So an anti lag system shouldn't be something thats used for building boost initially. Although it is true that something as simple as a rev limiter can be a 2-step.

Well they do the same functions because 2 step is a drag racing oriented launch controller so if your running a 90mm turbo you actually have time to spool it on the trans brake before the launch, with Anti Lag, you could do like road racing and you will maintain boost around corners even if you let off the gas it'll keep the boost pressure

@ToolofSociety11 жыл бұрын
No it's perfectly safe for the engine and mechanics. These systems are used on any serious turbo equiped drag car. The intent is to keep the turbos spun up so there is no lag on launch. It's just really dramatic on this car due to the relatively short exhaust. You see similar results on the drag strips as they run little to no exhaust. Regular supercharged drag cars shoot flames out their pipes too but usually it has to be somewhat dark for you to see them.

@FullThrottleCC11 жыл бұрын
Well it all depends on the turbo, the turbo will get very hot with this system so forget about it if your turbo isn't even oil cooled, if it is oil cooled you'd need a good oil cooler, then you'd want to use a turbo blanket to keep the heat from the engine off the turbo, and you'd also want to use a billet turbine and billet internals, and a really strong exhaust manifold, If you did all that, you'd be fine but if you don't go to those precautions, you'd probably blow the turbo

It won't do much without a computer to understand the voltage reading you are getting from the MAP/MAF and adjust the fuel accordingly. What my original comment was saying is most kids start with bolt on's when they should do it proper, and start with a stand alone ECU. This car has a Motec, its a good ECU. Read "how to tune and modify engine management systems", its a text book, I learned a lot.

Last time I checked the Bugatti Veyron SS has around 1,200 bhp and the Ferrari FF has around 670 bhp, and the Lamborghini Aventador has around 700 bhp. These are all production cars and it's a safe assumption that Germans, Japanese, and Italians don't stop at production horsepower.

It can, but anti lag just cuts the fuel at rpm so it keeps air going through the engine to spool up the turbo. Some anti lag cuts just spark, so when it hits in that cylinder there will be a lot of unburned fuel in there which caused the extra explosion(backfire)
@Aelleor11 жыл бұрын

question how you make the turbo spooling sounds loud like that at the idle?what did you do so u can hear the turbo spool sound loud at the idle...
@FernandoHaddadMinistro11 жыл бұрын
You need a drive-by-wire accelerator. When you released it to change gear, the ECU don't close the TBI, so the pressure don't need to be released by the blow off. ECU change the ignition timing to bring less torque and this slows down the rpm, and the driver can change gears. When he hits the gas again, the pressure is already there and the ignition timing is restored. The problem is the engine can fire when the escape valves are open, or not fire, so the fire occurs on the escape tube by heat
